Probably it means; the women on the island are the subject of the experiment. They should be a combination of humans and starfish. This can be seen from the nurse showing the photos of the male protagonist. Later, the experiment may be aborted. These hybrid girls survived and were affected by the videos. Or maybe They are still a new breeding experiment for the survival of their offspring (the unplaning video in the video should be the video of the birth of these nurses).
