The first time I knew the director Shunji Iwai was through "Love Letters." When I was in college, I liked watching Japanese dramas. At that time, the university began to implement a credit system, which included elective courses to choose from. So, who loves Japanese dramas, I chose the course of Japanese film appreciation. I remember that in the first class at that time, the teacher gave us the "Love Letter". From then on, I got to know this talented director and that handsome boy-Takashi Kashiwahara. Later I watched many movies by Shunji Iwai, such as "Flower and Alice", "Swallowtail Butterfly", "April Story", "Everything About Lily Zhou", etc., but "Love Letter" has always been my favorite .

At the beginning of the film, in a white snowy field, a girl in black clothes, Bozi, just lay down like this, without breathing, as if she had died. Suddenly the girl took a breath, she got up, looked up at the sky, and the background music sounded, and she slowly left until it turned into a black spot, even the black spot was invisible. This is the first act at the beginning of the movie. The background music is played in a simple and elegant manner, making a sound slowly at one's own pace. In this scene, Bozi was lying in the snow and looking up at the sky. The director gave a close-up shot, and then took a long shot with a panoramic view. The camera didn't move much, and Bozi drifted away in the screen. When I watched the opening scene of the movie, I was totally attracted by the scene. The whole scene was only in black and white. However, the snow scene was really beautiful. With this music, I was only left to enjoy it. But when I watched the movie, I realized that Bozi lying in the snow should feel the taste of death. Because her fiance was buried in this city, he is lying down here, in this snowy field. Perhaps Bozi thinks that he can feel the feelings of his fiance and get closer to him. Bozi at this time was desperate and sad, and she missed her dead fiance deeply. The first act of the movie has always been the one that impressed me the most. The director used a simple lens to attract the audience from the very beginning, as if a story was about to be told.

Immediately after the scene moved to the cemetery, unlike the snow scene, there were more people here, and the noisy environment formed a sharp contrast with the previous scene. In such a noisy environment, Bozi's sadness and loneliness are even more visible. Bozi, full of despair, came to her fiance’s house. She began to look through her fiancé’s past. In her graduation book, she saw the place where the protagonist had lived before. So she wrote down the address and sent a letter to the dead fiancé to that address. Maybe she thought it was the place where the fiancé started, or maybe people would come back there after death, so she sent it, it was a letter sent to heaven. However, unexpectedly, she received a reply. Through several correspondences and subsequent visits, she gradually understood that the address was not the address of the fiancé, but the address of Fujiiki, a girl who was in the same class with the fiancé and had the same name; and the ridiculous thing was that the girl looked very similar to herself. . The girl's intuition made her feel that the relationship between the two Fujii trees should not be an ordinary classmate relationship, there should be more stories. Bozi said that he wanted to know more about his fiancé, so he asked the female tree to tell him the story of him and the male tree. As the letters went back and forth, a beautiful first love that had been sealed was unearthed.

The movie presents a beautiful story of first love to everyone in such a unique way. There are many classic shots in the film. In addition to the opening snow shots, there are also male trees standing in the library window. The wind blows in, the curtains are blown up, and the male trees are looming behind the curtains. This is also one of the classic shots. And Bozi repeatedly shouted loudly in the snow, "How are you? I'm fine." This shot is also very classic. The director’s shots were switched between Nvshu and Bozi at first. Nvshu lay on the hospital bed and said, "How are you?" Bozi shouted loudly in the snow, "How are you?" The camera switched back to Nvshu. "I'm fine", Bozi is in the snow, "I'm fine." Next, Bozi said these two words loudly and repeatedly, shouting out the depression in her heart over and over again, and finally she started crying . At this time, Bozi has put down the lost love, this is her way of saying goodbye to her first love (male tree).

Many detailed settings of the movie plot also make people feel sweet and beautiful. For example, the male tree pranks the female tree and brings paper boxes to the female tree. For example, the male tree deliberately took the wrong paper and asked the female tree to take the initiative to change it by herself. In order to stay longer, she deliberately said that she couldn't see clearly, and let the female tree bicycle to generate electricity manually and read the paper slowly. For example, the male tree deliberately borrowed a lot of books that no one reads, just to write the female tree's name on the library card over and over again in a high-sounding manner. Many people who watched such details in the movie feel sweet in their hearts and want to fall in love. Finally, when the female tree saw her own profile picture drawn on the library card, she realized that the male tree really liked herself. She realized that she had once liked male trees before, and she realized that everything about them was so beautiful at that time. This is a late first love, tearful eyes. . . . . . Sometimes I wonder, is the letter from Nv Shu and Bo Zi also counted as a love letter from Nv Shu to M Shu? Recall the past moments and write it down in words. Although these letters are sent to Bozi, the story is the story of the male tree. This should be regarded as a love letter. It can be written to the male tree. , It can also be written for first love.

The movie "Love Letter" can be described as a classic in terms of the plot setting, the screen, the director's lens language, and the background music. Under the director's lens, a sealed first love is slowly unearthed in a clever way, showing us the most original beauty of first love, which is a throbbing of youth.
