In this nearly 110-minute movie, the first 90 minutes are cumbersome. The real core story is actually only in the last 20 minutes. And even the core is so disappointing, simply nothing new: a reconstruction of a crime scene, and a reconstruction without technical content, no reasoning, no logic, no suspense, and meaningless. Compared with "Criminal 4" 15 years ago, this screen work is really ridiculous, not to mention that some shots remind me directly of the shooting of the news network.
First, on-site reconstruction is too simple. Everyone takes turns to narrate, without reasoning, direct reduction, and without leakage. With such a clear fact, can Liu Ye be guilty of getting all of them in for a doomsday trial? People with a little bit of IQ only need to ask side by side and ask one by one to find out easily. You can even ask Jackie Chan alone, why bother so much.
Second, Liu Ye's revenge on witnesses is really ridiculous. He himself admitted that his sister was held hostage and only Jackie Chan could be rescued if he was shot dead. Even if the other parties are not greedy for life and fear of death, and escape on the brink of battle, they are still unable to save her. What qualifications do you have to blame them? The gangsters robbed the bank and killed the staff. All the customers present were guilty of the crime and need to be punished?
Third, if Liu Ye had his own ideas, he arrested these people for punishment. Then, why did he delay so long? He didn't just kill a few first and then talk about it. He had to get all the people and get a family portrait and then follow the rules one by one? In this way, the first 90 minutes is even more unnecessary. In addition to showing that "Jackie Chan is not old, he can still eat", what's the point?
Fourth, Liu Ye plays a sophisticated and calculating role in the film, but apart from the seamless design of the bar, it is hard to tell that his IQ exceeds 80. The kidnapped person still stays there to die if nothing happened. Even if the bar is defensively strong, with the resources of the police, it can definitely be conquered within dozens of hours. Will he be able to finish this trial by then?
Fifth, there are too many meaningless characters. For example, what is Jing Tian used for? The presence and absence are exactly the same, and even the absence of it can make the story more compact. For another example, what does the reporter do, to show how disgusting, perverted, hateful, and desolate reporters from the celestial dynasty are? Another example is Jackie Chan’s previous stories. Are there any meanings? Is it just to add some action shots? There are many examples of this kind, and it is hard to make people think that this is a sincere work. This is all about the single ingredients when cooking, and all kinds of seasonings are added. In the end, it turns out to be unappetizing.
There is only one solution for this film. The first 90 minutes are compressed into 5 minutes, and the latter 20 minutes are expanded to 40 minutes, which can barely make up a 45-minute TV series, perhaps more appropriately. Although the level is too low, far worse than "Criminal 4", it can be regarded as a well-produced TV series with a large investment in the current domestic TV drama market in chaos.
