Krzysztof Kijeslovsky’s film is called "Poetic Philosophy Film". The opening fragments of several of his films are very shocking, and this shocking feeling comes from unmodified direct. For example, the animal carcasses at the beginning of "Small of Murder" and the male protagonist roaring in "Song of Opportunity" are also the same in this "Movie Fan". An eagle is pecking at a captured bird. In my opinion, this represents the truth and cruelty of nature. , The strong eating of the weak is the most basic law of nature, and it has not changed, and it is impossible to change.

This film was released in 1979 and was produced in Poland, which fluctuated a lot during the Cold War, so if you want to understand this film, you must understand the social background of Poland at that time. During World War II, the famous "blitzkrieg" kicked off. The German army first occupied most of Poland's territory. At this time, the Soviet Union lost no time in staging a scene of failure, breaking through the Soviet-Polish border and establishing an eastern defense line. At this time Poland has been divided up, and after World War II, Poland, as a satellite country of the Soviet Union, was positioned in the socialist camp. Therefore, Poland's political and economic system is completely copied from the Soviet Union. The planned economic system that emphasized heavy industry while ignoring the development of light industry and agriculture has led to a decline in people's living standards. Accumulated public grievances erupted from time to time, but the puppet government arranged by the Soviet Union adopted a high-pressure policy, which could not solve any problems at all. Then it led to the Poznan strike. At this time, the Polish people have awakened. If they want to make the current predicament, they must get rid of the rule of the Soviet Union, otherwise everything is idiotic.

The protagonist Philip was in a period of turmoil, only the area where he was in was not very active. The beginning of the story is simple. Philip bought a camera to celebrate the birth of her daughter and used it to record her daughter's growth. But Philip's company is holding an event and wants him to shoot the scene. As a result, Philip fell in love with photography, not only for work but also for life. One of the incidents made Philip realize the charm of photography. One of his friends’ mother passed away, but Philip had an image of this mother. His friend was deeply moved by the image: “In reality, people die. People are still alive.” This shows how important photography is. But contradictions followed one after another, and the company manager told Philip not to shoot casually, especially to erase the images of disabled workers. At this time, it was shown that the conservative forces in power wanted to use images to whitewash everything. Philip's motive for photography is very simple. He just wants to record everything around him and bring happiness to others at the same time. In the process, he feels his own value, but it is this truth that will cause him later distress. Foreshadowed.

Then Philip took the film without any cuts to participate in the selection, and was recognized by the professional judges and won the third place. After watching his film, the great director also admired it very much. His style was also appreciated by the editors of the TV station and invited him to make a professional documentary. At this time, Philip felt an unprecedented sense of honor, as if there was an artistic door opened for him, as long as he entered this door, he would walk on a bright road to realize his great artistic ideal. However, it can be seen that the reason for Philip’s success is not because of his artistic talent, but because his films fit the specific historical period at that time. Those who admire him are the reformers who oppose the power in power. They think that Philip’s position is Same as them. They hope that Philip will use this authentic style to awaken the public, let them understand the truth and support the reformists. All this seems to be just a misunderstanding. Philip thinks he has gained a sense of honor, and the reformers think he has got a like-minded comrade.

Then the plot suddenly changed. Philip's colleague was sacked by the company for supporting him, and his wife complained that he had left him without caring for his family and career. Philip was lost at this moment, as if walking in a maze not knowing where to go. If you stick to your ideals, you will be hit by the powers in power, and if you give up your ideals, you will spend your whole life just like ordinary people. No one will guide him, the only one who accompanies him in the end is the camera. What he was puzzled was that he just wanted to use a camera to truly record everything around him to show a unique art. Why did this behavior hurt his relatives and friends deeply. In the end, Philip turned the camera towards him, hoping to trace the past history from the camera and find the main cause of all these events to get out of this bewildering labyrinth.
