Please believe, there are still angels

The abyss and hope are just one door behind.

When the big liar Mr. Lipwig became the postmaster in order to make a living, his hope made him truly rescued in the end. And what can have the magic power to regenerate sinners? Perhaps as Lord Vetinari said, it is an angel.

Who is this angel? Does it really exist again? This film based on imagination does not give us the answer. Although we can infer that the words that tell Lipwig the truth late at night, the flames that burned the devil to rescue Lipwig in the fire must be true, but the people who lead these are incognito. If you have to guess, these magics may be performed by Vetinari, or Lipwig's patron saint may be blessing him, all of which may even be dominated by the mentioned but unknown angel. Regardless of what those things have not been said, the events at these critical moments make the plot develop brightly and always stand on the side of justice. Therefore, it is a beautiful power that we should all believe in.

In the real world in this film, there is indeed an unquestionable beautiful power-the stone giant. Stone giants are not humans, but they are always loyal and simple in appearance. So they are not human. The appearance of the first stone giant, Mr. Pump, was very scary, but then he dutifully stayed with the protagonist. He has always reminded Lipwig kindly, and also worked hard. When the Stone Giants believed that Lipwig's actions were good for everyone, no matter how much the real owner didn't want to help the post office because of anger, the Stone Giants would not be foolish, but continued to work for the post office day and night. Only in the end, Mr. Pump rescued Lipwig from the gallows, who was almost killed, and the stone giant showed his flesh and blood side completely. Without flesh and blood, they are not hard-hearted, but they are so different from human beings just because they are too kind, too simple, and too loyal.

Look at the big villain inside, Clarks' big boss. In this film, he is completely the incarnation of evil. Pursue profit, kill people like hemp, and always deceive others. Even though he was clever and unscrupulous, he still hadn't fought the righteous side. However, don’t think in clichés. In this movie, too many moments when the protagonist’s life is hanging by a thread and the strange reactions of the people around make the theme that justice will eventually defeat evil not so monotonous and focused. It is precisely because this film has reservations about the interpretation of many images that makes the villain's fate have a deeper meaning. After the happy ending, the big boss who didn't believe in angels stepped into the bottomless abyss.

When watching virtual stories, how to connect with reality is actually a very difficult problem. In real life, we don't meet the ups and downs of life and death challenges, don't know a partner who is always in trouble, never have an affair at first sight, let alone stand on an unparalleled throne. Are these stories nonsense? Actually not. Maybe we don't meet the beauty of drama, but there is always a glimmer of hope to create it ourselves. To be more straightforward, I think even if we can't be the stone giant with only the positive part of the emotions and desires, we don't want to be the big liar Lipwig who hasn't changed his mind.

What if there is an angel?

Miss Cripslock: Some people are saying...

Reacher Gilt: [interrupting her] And we will be providing refunds for any messages that have lost. All you have to do is fill in the claim form. But I do urge your readers not to do anything as rash as writing a letter and sending it by post.

    Miss Cripslock: Wouldn't you...

Reacher Gilt: You might as well tear it up and scatter it to the four winds!

Miss Cripslock: Mr Gilt, this claims form is 50 pages long.

[It is clear from the expression on Gilt's face that he was hoping nobody would realize this]

  • Drumknott: [Lipwig is about to be hung] I bring an edict from Lord Vetinari, patrician of Ankh-Morpork.

    Moist Von Lipwig: A reprieve!

Drumknott: He says to get on with it.
