The story is basically about Nimr's life, Roy is just a ray of light in his life. The dark life is talking about his "deep cabinet" life. Nimr has always hidden his sexuality, and has to rely on cross-border to show his true self. In fact, this is quite sad. The dark family refers to his brother. The deep cabinet is already a big problem. My brother has to join in some extreme activities, and the pass that he finally got has been revoked because of this (the good life that he had finally got is also ruined). The dark country obviously refers to Palestine that is “solved” as soon as you see a comrade. Nimr's biggest problem is the country. No matter what he does, the country will not let him go. In the end, it will make him desperate to have the idea of fleeing the country.
"Darkness" refers to Nimr, and "light" is naturally the rich and handsome Roy. In the bar, Nimr got Roy's help, and Roy even brought his own wine to Nimr to drink. In this way, Roy's first light gradually spread to Nimr's body. In the days that followed, Nimr began to feel that Tel Aviv was the place where he could escape the darkness and get closer to the light.
However, the death of his friend, the suspension of his passport, and the fact that his family was driven out of the house in the end, once again put out the light that Nimr had expected in his heart, and completely plunged him into despair. Even if Roy always wanted to help France get a visa, Nimr still couldn't rest assured. Roy's unquenchable love is the key to Nimr's escape from the darkness.
Compared to Nimr, Roy's contribution is even more unlimited. No matter when, Roy will always be by his side to help him. Even if Roy knew the truth, after the two quarreled, Roy still favored him. In the end, he ran out of the house to look for him, and had no choice but to contact the gang for help. The most touching thing is to sacrifice yourself and protect Nimr.
It was the end that made me gritted my teeth and the screenwriter. Why can't you let the gang come to rescue Roy, and when Nimr landed, Roy was already waiting for him in front of him.
The name OUT IN THE DARK makes me entangled, why not call it OUT FROM THE DARK and escape the darkness? This is more correct. After watching it, I guessed that maybe the title was saying: The protagonist thought he escaped from the darkness, but it was not exactly like that. Maybe it's saying OUT / IN THE DARK (Escape from the Darkness or Enter the Darkness) and let the audience decide on their own imagination.
