"Porque te vas" is a joyous tragic song

December 30, 2009.

I first heard that "Porque te vas" was in the movie "Raising Crows". 31 minutes and 25 seconds. The girl Anna put a vinyl record on an old-fashioned needle gramophone, lay on her back on a dark green old sofa, and began to hum to the melody: Hoy en mi ventana brilla el sol, y el corazón se pone triste contemplando la ciudad, porque te vas... Anna's chest rises and falls slightly, and there is a faint sadness in her bright and clear eyes, a little sad because she does not know the world. Sad for some unclear. Anna's aunt entered the room so that the music had to stop. After her aunt left, Anna played the record again, and danced with the music and the sisters. The camera moved slowly following the infantile and casual dance steps of the three young ladies. The music stopped and grandma rang the bell downstairs.
The music played again when the movie was about to end when Anna, who was playing guns, was slapped heavily by her unbearable aunt. Anna lay back on the sofa and began to sing this song like last time. In the middle of singing, Anna suddenly sat up and straightened up her upper body elegantly and dignified as an adult. Anna imitated her aunt's appearance, wiping her hair with her hand in front of the mirror in a daunting manner like a mature woman, her immature hand picked up the imaginary makeup tool and painted her eyebrows. Anna learned the tone of her aunt and held her head high, and learned the tone of her aunt when she ordered her to turn off the music. She arrogantly and coldly said the same sentence: Could you turn off the music, please? Then Anna stopped. She faced the camera with a look of hatred, and there were imperceptible tears in her eyes. With an urgent and serious tone, she repeated coldly: I hope she is dead, I hope she is dead, I hope she is dead.
This is the hatred of an immature girl, with the seriousness and heaviness of an adult.
In the end, the girl Anna finally put a spoonful of poison into the milk and gave it to her aunt. After finishing this calmly, she walked to the chair next to her and sat down to mending the clothes as usual, as if nothing had happened. Anna carefully observed whether her aunt had drunk the glass of milk. But Anna didn't know, the poison she thought was just soda.

The melody of "Porque te vas" is very brisk, but it always reveals a kind of unknowingly sadness. It seems that this sadness has been engraved in that vinyl record. It sings the song of the broken-hearted briskly, but it makes people misunderstand that it is covering up a certain despair. But the lyrics clearly read sorrow and sadness because of the frustration of the lover after he left. The words and music seem to be contradictory, but it is precisely this conflict and contradiction that the pain and the pain of a lost lover doubled. Feeling desperate in life because of the departure of his lover, the brisk lyrics seem to establish a positive determination. To forget the pain, to work hard, to start a new life.
This can only seem to be a wish. Life is still desperate. Why are you leaving?

Later, I downloaded the song and stored it wherever I could hear it. When I started listening to this song, I could see Anna with a sad face sitting on the dark green old sofa and humming softly: Hoy en mi ventana brilla el sol, y el corazón se pone triste contemplando la ciudad, Porque te vas...

Porque Te Vas
sings: Jeanette

Hoy en mi ventana brilla el sol, the
sun is shining at my window today
y el corazón se pone triste contemplando la ciudad
watching the city, my heart becomes sad
porque te vas?
Why are you Leaving?
Como cada noche desperte pensando en ti
I didn’t wake up one night because I missed you
y en mi reloj todas las horas vi pasar
Watching the passing of time in my clock
porque te vas?
Why did you leave?

Todas las promesas de mi amor se iran contigo
All my vows of love will go with you
me olvidaras, me olvidaras
you will forget me, you will
Would you forget me junto a la estación lloraré igual que un niño
by the station I cried like a child
porque te vas?
Why did you leave?
porque te vas?
Why did you leave?
porque te vas?
Why did you leave?

Bajo la penumbra de un farol
in the shadow of the
lamp se dormiran todas las cosas que quedaron por vivir
all the remaining lives are asleep
se dormiran
they will fall asleep to
Junto a las manillas de un reloj se quedaran
and the hour hand
todas las cosas que quedaron sin hablar
silent everything of

por que te vas?
why are you leaving?
porque te vas? por que te vas?
why are you leaving? why are you leaving?
porque te vas? por que te vas?
why are you leaving? why are you leaving?
porque te vas? por que te vas?
Why did you leave? Why did you leave?

Cría Cuervos quotes

  • Ana: The only thing I remember very clearly, is that at the time, I was convinced my father was responsible for all the sadness that embittered the last years of my mother's life. I was convinced that it was he and he alone that had caused her illness and death.

  • Rosa: Your poor mother wanted to breastfeed you, but she was too pale and delicate. So I was the one who really nursed you.

    Ana: Did you breastfeed me?

Rosa: Heavens, no. I gave you a bottle.

Ana: You've got big breasts. Will you show me?

Rosa: What do you think this is, a circus?

Ana: Come on, show me! I'll close my eyes and count to five... Oh! They're so big!
