Glee: The 3D Concert Movie (2011)
Glee’s 3D concert has been underway for a long time Yesterday, I took the time to read it completely. It’s only my fault that I have to complete the IMDB250 series.
This film is a movie that is difficult to classify. It is neither a documentary nor a concert, but a mixture of two types. This also makes it impossible for me to classify this film. The film can be divided into three parts, one is the live performance of Glee members, the other is the interview with Glee fans, and the other is the life change that Glee has brought to three young people. Interspersed among the three parts are some interviews with Glee members, or some interactions between them. The above is the composition of the movie, but these three parts only exist in the movie alone, and there is no direct connection. In short, this film is a four-different movie. It is neither a concert based on the identity of an actor, nor a theatrical movie linked to the Glee plot, nor a documentary on Glee's tour. In my opinion, this film is a filmmaker’s money-making film, which is a Glee promotional film spliced with various materials.
Although the inner elements of the movie are chaotic, the film has a unified theme-Glee changes lives. This theme is mainly revealed through the narration of three young people. The three young men are complete losers. One is a fat girl with a social barrier, the other is a small dwarf, and the other is a gay who is forced to come out. The lives of the three of them are in line with the theme of Glee's plot-telling the story of the loser himself. This theme happened to be the main reason that changed the three of them and made many viewers like Glee. Through this film, you can see the influence of Glee on young people, such as Glee can bring joy to people, Glee can inspire people, Glee can give people the courage to live, and so on. In short, this film takes Glee as a cultural phenomenon to bring changes to people. It tells the audience that Glee is not only a TV series, but also a beacon to many people’s lives. .
But there is one thing that makes the story of the movie seem very unreal. If three young people tell their true stories, how were the three of them selected? How did the directors reproduce their experience? This has compromised the authenticity of their story. Who knows how much truth is in the recurring story? This has to make me think, what are the real things in this film?
In addition to the main theme of the movie, the rest is to return the fans’ live performance and the weirdness between the members of Glee. These two parts are outside the subject, they are not the focus of the movie.
Finally, give an overall evaluation. This film is a significant manifestation of the money behavior of the Glee production business district for two reasons: First, during the Glee tour, using a camera to take some pictures without additional investment at all; Second, the editor of the Glee tour The dance is exactly the same as in the play, so there is no need to spend a lot of time designing dances and scenes. With a simple change, you can perform at the concert. It only requires the actors to practice a little bit; third, pass From the first two points, we can see that the main investment in this film is nothing more than post-production. And post-production does not require a lot of investment, even if it is made into 3D mode, it will not cost a lot of money. In addition, 3D movies can also increase the price of movies. In short, the release of Glee's tour and concert movies is very profitable for the entire Glee group. The filmmaker can make money, the actors can also expand the popularity, and the film also gave Glee a comprehensive promotion. Such a good thing, why not the producer?
Although this film is a win-win situation for filmmakers and actors, it has suffered for us audiences. Shrinking songs, dances that are similar to the plot, interviews that have nothing to do with Glee, funny things that make people laugh, etc., all of which make the movie's appreciation very low. In other words, who would appreciate something that is not new? Let me briefly talk about my views on each song.
01 Don't Stop Believin'
Glee's signature song, collective chorus. This song has been heard hundreds of times, so it is very familiar. It also makes it easy for me to find the shortcomings of this song-I only heard Rachel's voice, and the other people's voices completely disappeared. Rachel's loud voice is so loud that it can overwhelm the soundtrack and the harmony of others, so it is not an exaggeration to describe this song as Rachel's solo. In terms of song performance, it's not good, it's very average.
02 Sing
It is still a cantata. The feeling of this song is exactly the same as Don't Stop Believin'. There is only one small difference between the two-Finn makes a sound and can be heard. Therefore, this song is just another chorus in form, but in essence it is a solo song by Rachel, and everyone else is in the background. Moreover, in this song Artie also showed his feet, and did not have the right mouth shape when singing. Haha, this clearly proves that some songs in this film have lip-synching. Because of this, the evaluation of this song is meaningless.
03 Empire State of Mind
is still a chorus, which is also a song not included in the original soundtrack. This song is the same as the previous two songs. However, this song is really sung because I heard Artie’s discordant voice. It is not that he sings out of tune, but the ups and downs of his voice can be clearly heard in the interaction with the audience. Artie sometimes sings in real and sometimes falsely. It seems that this is not under his control, it is all about the choreographer.
04 I'm a Slave 4 U
Brittany's solo. Brittany everyone knows that singing is not her strong point at all, so the focus of this song is on her strength-dance. Brittany has also lived up to expectations, hot dance, hot body, and extremely provocative moves, will make people really feel her sexy. Hey, it would be great if it could be viewed on a 3D screen. Through the clear picture, you can also see the traces of Brittany's modification, one is a very fake breast, and the other is too golden blonde. Regarding the first point, some media reported that she did have breast augmentation, so I won’t say anything; about the second point, it’s better to understand, because it’s impossible for Americans to have such pure blonde hair, even if Brittany is naturally blonde. It cannot be as golden as gold. In addition, Brittany's makeup throughout the concert is also very heavy. It is precisely this heavy makeup that modifies an ordinary girl with an ordinary appearance to shine on the screen. All in all, apart from dancing, Brittany's songs are the credit of the stylist and other staff, who created the beauty in the picture.
05 Fat Bottomed Girls
Puck's solo. This song is one of the few championship songs originally sung by Queen in the United States, but in fact it is not good, and it is much worse than Queen's other classic songs. However, it is quite appropriate to perform this song by the riffraff-like Puck, and the interaction of the song as the name Lauren can easily stir up the audience's atmosphere. It's just that in this song, Lauren and Mike's performance is too much, a twitchy posture, a self-narcissism, and it looks really uncomfortable. Puck's interpretation of this song is also quite satisfactory, there is no highlight or failure. With this kind of effect, the first thing I thought of was "pretend singing", but unfortunately, I couldn't find too obvious evidence in this song. Maybe the editor's post-modification was perfect. Last but not least, the guitar played by Puck and Sam is just a display, they didn't play it seriously at all! At least pretending to be a rock fan should be more realistic.
06 Dog Days Are Over
The main theme song of the movie "Funny Girl", Rachel's solo. Coincidentally, I just finished watching Barbra Streisand's original song yesterday. After comparing the original vocal version with the Glee version, the two versions are equally suffocating. Really, what a delicate way of breathing is needed to sing this song, otherwise it won't be suffocated? Also, in the whole song, you can clearly see Rachel's figure, so thick thighs, so dark skin, and so big nose. She is indeed a pure-bred Jew. In addition, when Rachel was about to sing the song, the rest of the members all walked onto the stage. Why? I don't understand.
07 PYT (Pretty Young Thing)
Artie's solo singer and Mike's backing dancer. The feeling of this song is average, with average melody, average singing, and average backing dancers. It's like Artie's position in the choir-you can sing any type of song, but you can't sing your own characteristics. The only thing that interested me in this song was to distinguish whether it was actually sung or not. Saying it is a real singing, it's not like it, because the amount of exercise Artie plays with the wheelchair can't make him sing so evenly; saying it is a fake singing, it's not like it, because part of the scene can see Artie's panting. Combining the two, the only reasonable explanation is that Artie’s voice was processed when he sang a song. For modern technology, this is a piece of cake and can be done easily.
08
Solo by Ain't No Way Mercedes. Regarding the singing of Mercedes, needless to say, she is a very sturdy "golden voice and iron lung", and performing live songs is commonplace for her. Therefore, I can definitely be sure that this Mercedes song is really sung. This conclusion is certainly not a subjective assumption, because the time and way Mercedes greets the audience at the scene, as well as the connection with the song after the greeting, can confirm that she is really singing. In addition, through the reflection of the audience, Mercedes is still very popular, not inferior to Rachel at all. Rachel's biggest opponent is indeed Mercedes. Finally, I would like to say that Mercedes’ bucket waist really affects the perception, a girl with a sweet voice has such a bloated figure, and it affects her stardom.
09
Solo by Jessie's Girl Finn. This song is my favorite song in the entire concert, not because of Finn’s singing, but because of the melody of the song itself. After all, this is a catchy rock classic. Through the scene, you can also feel that only hard rock with simple melody and strong rhythm like this song can lift the atmosphere of the scene. Other songs are too niche and get too little resonance. For this song, Finn's interpretation is quite satisfactory and does not reflect its own characteristics. However, you can still feel Finn's singing skills through this song, not as bad as the performance in the play. Of course, if Finn and Rachel are put together, Rachel will kill him instantly.
10
Solo by Valerie Santana. Although Santana is my favorite, from an objective point of view, this song is the most obvious lip-synching song besides I'm a Slave 4 U. Throughout the song, Santana has a lot of exercise, jumping and jumping, not inferior to the other dancers on the stage. It is hard for me to believe that a person without professional training can sing a song smoothly and without any difference from the recording version under such an amount of exercise. To put it bluntly, Santana's singing skills are not up to this level, and people have to think of false singing. In addition, Santana's stage performance in this song is also very strange. Santana is relatively introverted in the play, and does not have a too exposed personality. However, in this song, Santana jumps and jumps and is extremely happy, it is Rachel No. 2, which obviously does not match the setting in the play. How can Santana be regarded as a person with a city government in the play, so wouldn't it be so open when singing? Secondly, when Santana sang this song in the play, her performance was not as strong as in the movie. To apply a phrase from the Internet, Santana was like a chicken blood! In short, Santana's image in this song is not good, it seems very silly.
11
Solo by Firework Rachel. In the same way, there is no difference between this song and the studio version, it's just playing recording. Hey, Rachel sometimes sings. I won’t say much about the song. The only thing that caught my attention was Rachel’s flat shoes and unshaved armpit hair. Rachel is really ugly in flat shoes. Why didn't she wear a slightly taller one when she was not tall? As for her armpit hair, it looks awkward because it was not cleaned. The funny thing is that Rachel also likes to wave his left hand very much, which makes the scenery under the armpits appear from time to time.
12 Teenage Dream 13 Silly Love Songs 14 Raise Your Glass
Joint singing of the Warblers Choir. Before watching the concert, I didn't like Warblers because their songs were not good. However, after watching the live performance of Warblers, I realized the powerful charm of Warblers. In the three songs, not only the male lead singer Blaine is extremely handsome and charming, but the dance of the whole chorus is also perfectly coordinated, and the pace is almost as precise as the honor guard of the People's Liberation Army. Can such a chorus with beautiful singing, beautiful lineup, and passion be unpopular? Even someone who doesn't like Blaine wants to squeeze his fair face, let alone other people? Therefore, Warblers is the best product of Glee's star-making machine. When this chorus is released, who will compete?
The three songs are sung together, and it is very energy-consuming to sing and dance, so we can clearly see the huge beads of sweat on Blaine's face. It works so hard! Through this detail, combined with a few sentences of Blaine during the singing and the audience's interaction, it can be determined that Warblers's singing is real, that is, true singing. This once again proved the strength of the Warblers, the live performances are so contagious, it is strange that they are not popular.
15 Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again
Rachl and Kurt duet. I don't like this song in the play, and I don't like it in the concert, so I won't say more. However, I want to talk about Kurt's performance, because Kurt's performance on this song is very abnormal. Kurt's twisty and contrived gestures are particularly annoying, such as the silly look of looking up at 45°, the shrug of Rachel's sing, and the act of twisting the waist when singing a chorus, which is unacceptable. Kurt is not like this in the play, how did it become like this in the concert? There should be a limit to pretending to be cute. It shouldn't be so, too much!
16 Safety Dance
It's Artie's solo again. The feeling of this song is the same as that of PYT (Pretty Young Thing), it's a normal singing, the only difference is that it joins Artie's hot dance. When Glee didn't play a few episodes, I saw that Kevin McHale is a master dancer, but because of the role restrictions, he can't show off his dance skills. The appearance of this song happened to realize Artie's dream and also realized my expectation of him-dancing. As for the dance part, I won’t comment on it, because most of the dances are divided into two types in my eyes, one is good-looking and the other is not good-looking, and the dance of this song belongs to the former.
17
The duet between Lucky Sam and Quinn is also the most incompletely edited song. The overall interpretation of the song is very general, and the two voices are not explosive, making it difficult for their singing to resonate with the audience. Therefore, compared with other songs, this song is quite a failure. Sam's performance is very ordinary, not much to say, mainly to talk about Quinn. Through the performance of this song Quinn, it can be seen that she is not suitable for concert performance at all. During the singing, her body is stiff, her expression is dull, and her eyes are blurred, which is completely inconsistent with the atmosphere of the scene. To put it more bluntly, Quinn's typhoon is not good at all, and it won't make it to the big stage. She still needs training.
18 River Deep, Mountain High
A chorus of Santana and Mercedes. The feeling of this song, like Santana's Valerie, is full of fake singing. This is a song that sings and dances with a large amount of dance. As long as it is a normal person, singing this song will feel difficult, but the two in this film can't feel it at all. Not only the two have a steady breath and clear words, but their interpretation is no different from the studio version. How can this be? In addition, I would like to talk about the typhoon in Santana. In the whole song, Santana's performance was fairly normal, but in some scenes the Valerie phenomenon appeared again, jumping too much, and even a little narcissistic. Especially when Mercedes sang the last few lines, Santana was a crazy big silly girl, which made her image in my heart plummet. Santana, like Quinn, typhoons need to be tempered, and Mercedes does not have such a problem. Mercedes’ performance in this song is very decent, and her performance is perfectly integrated with the song’s mood. In addition, in this song, Santana has more pictures than Mercedes. It seems that the director also likes Santana.
19 Forget You
Holly's solo. This song is obviously true, because in "Hometown Love", I am familiar with the voice of Gwyneth Paltrow. In this song, it is her obvious true voice, and the live interpretation of this song is different from the studio version, such as the second sentence. From the noise when everyone sang in the end, you can also hear that this is a real singing, because false singing can't have such flaws. Although the song is really sung, it feels very ordinary, because Holly's voice and voice are very ordinary, just a normal white female voice, without its own characteristics. The choreographer asked Gwyneth Paltrow to appear, completely to increase the popularity of the concert, so that more audiences can buy tickets and make more money.
20 I Want to Hold Your Hand
Kurt's solo. When this song was sung in the play, my feeling was very ordinary, so I won’t say more. But I want to mention Kurt's performance. His behavior in this song is finally normal. There is no twitchy little gestures, no annoying pretends, and he looks much more comfortable. Kurt should be like this, don't think of yourself as a child.
21 Born This Way
choir collective cantata. The so-called chorus, in fact, is not complete, because there is no Rachel. Where did Rachel go? I have no way of knowing. For this song, I still don't feel too deeply, in my opinion it is just an ordinary pop song. The dance of this song is also copied from the TV series, without any novelty. However, you can see the true figures of the choir members from the dances of the crowd: Tina has a bucket waist comparable to Mercedes, while Santana and Brittany are both in the same figure, both of them are beautiful girls with strong builds. As for the remaining beauty Quinn, there are few pictures and she has been completely ignored by the choreographer.
22 The
final chorus of Loser Like Me . I can be sure that this song is really sung, because the vocal line of Brittany is out of tune, and it is obvious. There is nothing to say about the other aspects. The dance is exactly the same as in the play. The members' singing is also based on Rachel and Finn, with only a little Mercedes voice at the end of the song. It can be seen that this is a typical Glee mode song.
23 Somebody to Love (Live)
At the end of the final, there is a classic cantata, that is, Somebody to Love, which was very popular in the first season. This song has been sung on Oprah's show, and the members are already familiar with it, so it sounds very smooth. However, the live performances in the film and the live performances in the Oprah show, and the choreography are all copying the patterns in the play, so there is nothing new.
The above is my impression of all the songs. On the whole, the live performance of this film is not a concert mode, but a reproduction of the songs in the play, and it is the effect that is presented through various modifications. According to modern film technology, it is not so difficult to synthesize the later sung version onto the live screen to be seamless. Therefore, the real singing and false singing I mentioned above have no practical meaning, because the film is just a "performance show", a commercial film aimed at satisfying the fanaticism of fans and promoting Glee. If you want to hear the real singing of the actors, you will not feel it in this film!
in conclusion. This film is an exclusive movie made entirely for fans, and it is not that Gleek would not like it. In addition, from an objective point of view, this film is indeed not a good movie, it has no brilliance, and it has very obvious modifications. Therefore, even if the film’s director Kevin Tancharoen works hard, he cannot change the fact that the film is a bad one. However, for such a film with almost zero investment, as long as someone watched it, the producer would not lose money. For the producer, they did not fail, but succeeded.
Last but not least, the high-definition resources of this film 720P, 1080P, and original discs turned out to be the world premiere of domestic HDchina, which is too powerful! Moreover, only the HDchina team in the world has released a full series of HD resources, and the Chinese are getting better and better. This is something I never thought of!
