"The Potter, Tailor, Soldier, Spy"

I watched the movie the day before yesterday and then downloaded the episode.

Those who have seen the original work say that the TV version of 1979 is very loyal to the original work, and the nearly five-hour period really answers all the questions in the film. This is the pros and cons of TV dramas and movies. For such a spy novel about the Cold War period that is not suitable for cinematization, enough space to explain the relationship between the characters clearly, the three-dimensional character is very important, now think about the two hours of the time. The movie is basically led by the nose.

As time is approaching, it is easier for the series to find the simplicity and realism that belong to that era, and the popular choice of actors' appearance also makes the subject matter more realistic.

Of course, for most people who watch movies, they haven't read novels or episodes. Why do they still cheer for the movie? It shows that the film version does provide a different aesthetic pleasure. The first ten minutes of concise editing is completed and it takes at least half an hour to spread out; the acquaintance of Tal and Irina makes the film completely "rear windowed". The processing is obviously also out of eye-catching; Peter stole a record on duty in the Round Tower and even set it as a small climax in the film; and added a Christmas ball segmented cut to intuitively show the subtle relationship between the characters.

On the other hand, the relatively high-cost production quality of the film, and the 21st centuryization in art direction and clothing is also the visual texture after packaging.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy quotes

  • Bill Haydon: Got a rabbit to pull out of your hat, Percy? You've got that Britain-can-make-it look about you. Very intimidating.

  • [Lacon has arrived late for a conference]

Oliver Lacon: I'm sorry. Traffic. I should've walked.

Bill Haydon: I think you and Percy between you are contriving to keep me off the streets.
