But the nearly three-hour film length prevented my curiosity. I have watched three-hour boring films, three-hour literary films, and nearly three-hour bursts. Rice flower film, but I never thought that it would take three hours to identify a bad film. But on such a boring night today, my curiosity still defeated me... Fortunately, neither Chen Kaige nor the handsome guy disappointed me!
The structure is one chant and three sighs. Although not as sophisticated as a vulgar novel, the simple expression is more in line with the atmosphere of this movie. The film casting is impeccable. King Qin, Jing Ke, Lai, Prince Dan, Zhao Nu, and even Jing Ke's assistant to Qin can be called flawless. Only when Gao Jianli yelled "Shout out!" when he was performing surgery on Jing Ke, I couldn't help but think of this sketch actor's classic line "Get up" in "Selling Crutches" several years later...Of course this can't be blamed on Chen Kaige...
No I know which of the 98 CCTV Water Margin and this movie started shooting first, so I don’t know who discovered Li Xuejian’s potential first, but Li Xuejian’s acting as a Chinese-style gangster is really awesome, comparable to Marlon Brando’s. godfather.
Wang Zhiwen's 嫪毐 is also very wonderful, but the movie is too long, otherwise his part of the plot can be expanded more fully, instead of expressing his achievements through a monologue before his death.
Chen Kaige's Lu Buwei is also awesome. Seeing the secret edict, he threw it contemptuously on the ground, "If you want to rebel, will it be your turn?" He awakened the dreamer. It's a pity that Lai had to turn back, even though he already knew his result. Then the drama in the ancestral temple was simply a magical touch, and I don't know who came up with it. To paraphrase a line that often appears in Japanese movies/anime, "The death of Lu Buwei made Ying Zheng resolutely embark on the road of Shura"...
Unlike many Chinese directors, Chen Kaige is not interested in filming the love of men and women. Yu's commercial pursuit barely managed to shoot, and he could only shoot at the level of "Promise". What's absurd is that the crappy love scene has fulfilled Cecilia Cheung and Nicholas Tse out of the scene...The Zhao girl played by Gong Li represents the part of good human nature in Assassin's Qin. King Qin is a demon, Jing Ke is a Buddha, and she is a person in the cracks...
Prince Dan also played well. Dan in the movie is like some low-level cadres. He is obviously manipulated in the palm of his hands, but he has little power and dissatisfaction. He always wants to change his destiny, jumping up and down, which is disgusting. This is very different from the dark-bellied Prince Dan in the original Shiji.
The plot of this movie can be said to be quite out of the description of historical records, but I personally think it is quite successful. However, the outrageous interpretation of Zhao's orphan may have its roots in this successful rewriting.
Pity. Such an awesome movie, but it is not appreciated by critics and audiences. Lively forced Chen Kaige to use bad films to resist society and mock the public. "You disgust me, and I will disgust you too." Chen Kaige must have thought so when he filmed Wuji. Why do Chinese audiences only watch bad movies now? Don't blame the damn system, but because Chinese audiences only deserve to watch bad movies.
