Pulling away.
In the movie, a Filipino woman works as a babysitter in New York. The host is on a business trip to Thailand. Naturally and very old-fashioned, one can talk about the first world vs. the third world.
In addition to feeling that being a white man is really fucking good, the film also tries to make you feel that whether you are a surgeon in New York or a prostitute in Thailand, all human beings live in all kinds of despair. Only children are beautiful. Wherever they are desperate, people are giving birth and loving their children until all mothers are in tears.
Swear to the death to perpetuate the despair. Humans are really strong species.
The protagonist said that sometimes he wonders if we will also be extinct. Rats dominate the world and come to dig our graves and tinker with our remains, just like we are fascinated by the ivory of mammoths.
I thought that if we were extinct, we would take this world with us.
