I like the performance when Ed starts to stutter, he said that the focus is hocus and I laughed stupidly. He is like Chen Peisi in the peak age, but he is much more cordial than Chen Peisi.
The dialogue of this play is written by typical Americans, not Hungarians, Austrians, or Germans. Many lines rhyme, such as discussing first name and last name in the car.
I think the funniest thing is the last paragraph, when the 6 births, the doctor’s behavior changes silently. Then the headline of the newspaper was too funny. Canada protested: possible but not probable. Italian wrote Mussolini's resignation: enough is sufficiency, and Hitler asked for a new count.
But think about it carefully, this is comedy, but is it happy? A man fell in love with a girl, and the girl had a flash marriage with someone else's ONS, but she couldn't remember her name, so she asked this man as a backstop, and almost killed the man on the gallows, and finally became father to 6 illegitimate children. What kind of world is this? However, this was during the war. The ONS targeted soldiers, so they would cheer for the 6 illegitimate children. Because of the addition of 6 males, the American newspaper wrote platoon born in midwest.
From a moral point of view, this is nonsense and unfair, but from a comedy point of view, it is crazy and funny. You can be upright and noble and funny, or you can be narrow and indifferent and funny.
