The two Nanjing themes collided at the same time. Regardless of the box office wins or losses, it has created a fever for discussions on the Nanjing theme. This is a good thing. I believe that these two films will also benefit from this kind of heated discussion, and achieve box office success and a win-win situation. There is no need to die or die. But it's still very interesting to watch it, so I don't want to persuade it.
In "Rabe's Diary", Rabe, as a member of the Nazi party, chatted and drank tea with the Allies, allowed the Chinese to trample the Nazi flag under their feet, drunk and sang with the British: "Hitler is a coward..." these Maybe it's not historical facts, maybe it's just the processing of the screenwriter, but this gave the bloody Nanjing winter a layer of fairy tale color, and it also made people hate those who broke the fairy tale even more.
But just as fictional plots such as Rabe’s kneeling in Nanjing in Nanjing and Kadokawa’s suicide are unsatisfactory, some obvious flaws in Rabe’s diary make an otherwise good subject matter and angle eclipse.
1. In terms of scene performance, the big scenes in Rabe's Diary are rather rough, with expressions, actions, and dubbing, reminding you that these people are extras. The Chinese prisoners of war fell neatly like dominoes during the Japanese strafe. They did not see any panic and struggle, nor did they have the numbness and despair shown in "Nanjing". It seemed that the Japanese soldiers shot a pile of wooden piles, but the wooden piles were not. It will be so uniform.
2. Zhang Jingchu's love with the German is abrupt and redundant.

As a female student, Zhang Jingchu dared to put on their military uniforms after killing two Japanese officers and brought her brother to push the body of her father into the city at night, such as entering the land of no one. The Japanese soldiers came to salute her and report. Seeing this suddenly felt like watching "Women's Special Attack Team", Zhang Jingchu was able to run rampant in Nanjing like this as a female student, and it was a miracle that the Japanese army was not massacred by Jinling Women's University.
The most important point is the handling of history. After a scene where the righteous words refused to surrender women, in the movie, it seems that no girls have been violently surrendered in the safe zone, and there is no mention of women being surrendered. Only once the Japanese soldiers killed the wounded soldiers and several doctors, and the other time the Japanese soldiers asked the female students to undress to check if they were all female... (Very speechless)
It seems that the screenwriter wanted to show: Rabe worked hard to protect the safe area. For fear that more descriptions of the atrocities committed by the Japanese soldiers in the safe zone will damage Rabe's image.
But the real Rabe’s diary recorded this:
“An American said:'The safe zone has become a Japanese brothel.' This statement is almost in line with the facts. There were about 1,000 girls and Women were raped. More than 100 girls were raped at the Jinling Women's College of Arts and Sciences alone. All the news heard at this time was rape. If the brothers or husbands intervened, they would be shot by the Japanese. All I heard and witnessed The brutal atrocities and bestial acts of the Japanese soldiers." Those who have
only watched this movie but have not watched the text version of Rabe’s diary might think that the Japanese army is quite “rule-abiding” in the safe zone. It's just a "strip check". Why do Chinese people cry?
Lu Chuan made Rabe kneel in "Nanjing", which violated historical facts and was accused. I think it's quite right. The wishful thinking of all directors and screenwriters may distort history. Rabe has never knelt before, nor has he ever knelt. The Japanese army hasn't committed suicide or committed suicide. Why must he give them some "guilt" that the director wants.
And the arrangement of replacing "rape" with "undressing" in "Rabe's Diary" is a beautification or betrayal of Rabe? Rabe is not a saint. There are some things he cannot do and cannot protect everyone. The Chinese understand and appreciate him as well. Why should he avoid or modify the historical facts clearly recorded in his diary in order to make his image perfect? Lose. Rabe knows in heaven, would he be grateful to the producer for taking care of his image? Or was it sad that his diary was deleted?
Nanjing Nanjing is shocking because of its truth, and it also loses its power to face reality because of its fiction.
Rabe’s diary, the diary itself is more real than the movie. Rabe himself is more honest than the screenwriter.
