Jackie Chan: My View on Revolution

The title is a bit sensational, but it has nothing to do with the movie. As a Hong Kong citizen, Jackie Chan naturally never really talked about his revolutionary outlook. However, in the film, through Jackie Chan's mouth, the director or screenwriter expresses his revolutionary outlook. There is a plot in the movie: Revolutionaries played by Lu Liangwei and Guan Zhilin steal the jewels of the Hong Kong capital for the bad guys in order to raise revolutionary funds. Jackie Chan is the policeman responsible for guarding the jewels, so conflicts and conflicts arise. As the saying goes, if you don’t fight, you don’t know each other, and the heroes cherish each other. When Lu Liangwei and Guan Zhilin realized that Jackie Chan was a good policeman and a sturdy Chinese, they spread revolutionary ideas to Jackie Chan, hoping that Jackie would join them to overthrow the decadent Manchu dynasty and establish a republican government.
But Jackie Chan refused. This sturdy patriot believed that he could not know what China would look like after the revolution. He could not be sure that the regime established after the revolution would be clean and clean, not the corrupt and incompetent Manchu Qing government. History later deduced the internal dictatorship of the Kuomintang government and compromised with foreign traitors. So he said that he was unwilling to make a revolution, and he did not dare to persuade others to make a revolution, because he could not be sure that everything would be better after the revolution. Therefore, he is more willing to be a good policeman, even if the policeman is the British Royal Police, he is responsible to the British Hong Kong Government. He hopes to help those in need as much as possible within his limited ability, and punish the bad guys such as pirates, gangs, and corrupt bureaucrats.
Looking at modern China alone, there have been various ideas of national salvation, and some grand discourse systems have even performed on the stage of Chinese history as official ideologies. But every change of ideology is built on many bones, and every time there are countless enthusiastic patriots who gave their precious lives, but the final result may be difficult for the patriots themselves to accept. Sometimes it's lucky to die early. A certain leader once said: "Even if Lu Xun lives to the present, he still has to shut up." It can be seen that there is still a huge gap between the imagination and reality of revolutionaries. If you just carry on the revolution with a good expectation, And without a blueprint for the reconstruction of the system after the revolution is complete, it is impossible to ensure that the fruits of the revolution will not be stolen, so don't make a revolution. Because the risk of revolution is too great. On the small side, individuals may sacrifice their lives; on the large side, the country may be messed up, or even worse than before.
Looking back on world history, we know that after the French Revolution, there was a "reign of terror" under the Jacobin dictatorship and Napoleon's rise to power. Later, the emperor had to be invited back for restoration. Looking at the United Kingdom and the United States, the regime change and system reform have been realized without experiencing major bloodshed. The reason is that the revolution has to resort to violence, and violence itself is an extreme act. Chinese people often say that the reason is not loud, and the gentleman speaks but does not act. Once you use violence to force others to accept your idea, and at the same time label this idea as democracy, freedom, and fraternity, it would be too funny and too ironic.
Every great traitor must look like a great loyalist. No matter what banner or doctrine you use, you should not use violence to force others to accept your doctrine. It's a good thing, and everyone naturally scrambles to flock to each other. Some people say that the people are too ignorant to support good doctrine. If the people are so ignorant, then I think we should first enlighten them! Otherwise, after the revolution is successful, how can we build a democratic, free, equal, and fraternal society and system in the face of ignorant people who are unwilling to accept philanthropy? The word "revolution", if you want to explain it in a literal way, isn't it about destroying the lives of others and "convincing" everyone to accept their own doctrines? What's more, since ancient times, there have been "cunning rabbits die, lackeys cooking; birds are exhausted, good bows are hidden". After victory, you have to clean up the arrogant soldiers and the ministers who have made great achievements. A twenty-four history is well known. Even if you encounter someone who is gentler like Zhao Kuangyin, the Taizu of Song Dynasty, you have to be cautious to keep your wealth safe. Why bother to come and go?
Therefore, when it comes to revolution, I feel terrified and immediately think of the brutal and inhuman violence and wars in history. The revolution is too extreme, too violent, too bloody, too tragic... It’s better to be gentle. Don’t let others disagree with your point of view, and if you don’t support your doctrine, you will kill them. This is not good. Let everyone speak, let people choose freely!
Regarding ancient and modern times, at home and abroad, most of the regimes that depend on the destiny of the revolutionaries have to be deprived of their lives. If you are lucky, if you encounter someone who is reasonable and compassionate, even if your authority is lost and your reputation is ruined, you can still save your wealth. In the end, you have to secretly rejoice: Fortunately, this guy is not a revolutionary!

The rhythm of the paragraphs of hide and seek and pirate chasing Zhensanhuan and Ma Rulong in the room is perfect. After that, "Police Story" reached a peak. Jackie Chan is not Ma Rulong: "I am a very strict person, no matter how correct or pleasant my goal is, I will not do anything wrong by any means. In fact, I admire you very much, because you are the ones who do big things. People, I also understand that the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty requires many people to throw their heads and shed blood without fear of sacrifice. But I dare not ask people to do this, because I don’t know what the result will be after making so many people sacrifice, so I love being a policeman Because I think every human life is very important, and I want to ensure that everyone lives and works in peace and contentment. Even a country of 40 million people is made up of everyone. If you don’t like your own life, you still have the heart to love your country. Woolen cloth."
