Objectively speaking, the story, props, and special effects are good. It is this exaggerated Japanese performance style that makes people feel very embarrassed. Exaggerated expressions, passionate tone, and excessive body movements are really unaccustomed.
In terms of the film's rhythm, because of too much embarrassing literary play, it seems to be a bit procrastinated. This grand story of fighting evil aliens to save the earth should still be accelerated to increase the battle scene of the big scene of Star Wars.
There are actually a lot of problems in the details. Gunpowder weapons vs. laser weapons, World War II giant artillery and alien missiles, death fighters directly face the rain of bullets, catch an alien spacecraft and leave it there. It can make time and space transitions but cannot clean up nuclear pollution.
The biggest problem with the film is that extreme nationalism is overwhelming. The old captain's strategy and spacecraft are a tribute to the three benign war gamblers of World War II and the Yamato battleship with a sad fate. These two are actually negative examples of human civilization, and the sacrifices are a bit shameful. Since it is a human perspective, it is better not to be so narrow, at least it will affect the global box office.
This film also has enlightenment for domestic science fiction films. In order to box office and influence, the director's vision and position must not be too narrow. Although most successful sci-fi blockbusters in the past used Americans or whites to save the world, aliens invaded the earth also sought the United States first. But we will find that the position of those films must be all mankind, and the emotions and values must be from the perspective of human commonness, and we will never say nakedly that the great and advanced United States saved the world. In the film, there must be as much as possible the pictures of people from all over the world and elites of all skin colors working together.
