Before watching this documentary, I knew nothing about Elizabeth Holmes. The first impression of her was the interview photo sitting between Clinton and Jack Ma. I thought this documentary was an inspirational story of an entrepreneur on the road to success. So the direction of the whole documentary was completely beyond my expectation. It can't be said to be inspiration, but it did make me know a lot about the field I looked up to, and think a lot.
Elizabeth Holmes praises Edison very much.
"It's a shame, I really don't like Edison very much." This is where I regretted at first. Edison changed the world, there is no doubt, but some of his behavior is contrary to my values, so I have not liked him very much, of course, this is just my personal subjective emotional tendencies. Whether admitted or not, Edison is recognized as the greatest inventor in the world.
A question was raised in the documentary: "What does invention mean?" It may be creation or deception. Edison did both.
I have never thought deeply about what the invention involves. My invention is just continuous failure and final success in the laboratory. "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up the most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." Edison's sentence even made me think that as long as you are not afraid of failure, continue to persevere, and continue to learn from failure, you are inventing The whole process. I have never considered the pressure from the management, the attention of the staff, the attention of the media, or even the pressure from the government. I realized that invention is not what I imagined. In fact, this is often the result of a game of various forces.
This undoubtedly makes me a little bit disappointed, but whether I want to see it or not, I have to accept this fact.
At the same time, I also had a great deal of confusion. For the final result, are the “white” lies in the process harmless? I can't help myself to think, if Elizabeth really successfully applied Edison in the end, what would be her personal evaluation now, even after she deceived countless investors and consumers? Will these lies be regarded as some necessary last resort on the road to success?
If you succeed, you will be a genius; if you fail, you will be beaten as a lunatic.
The genius is on the left, the lunatic is on the right. The boundary between the two is really blurred, and I have no way to judge Elizabeth. Until now, I can’t imagine how she can weave such a huge lie. Her personality is so amazing that I have to wonder whether she really has any magic power to make countless “old fritters” in business and politics. "Listen to her and even surrender to her. From the $4.5 billion business figure of the year to the zero that everyone can step on, it is difficult for me to figure out Elizabeth's thoughts and experiences.
Can a small amount of blood sample from the fingertips really detect hundreds of diseases? In fact, the answer I can get is that our current technology is far from being able to do it, so we define it as impossible for the time being. But how many people can expect Edison to obtain so many patents? Is the impossibility we defined as a huge business opportunity in Elizabeth's eyes, but she failed? I can't tell whether Elizabeth is a complete liar or just a genius who failed to succeed before the lie was exposed.
Many puzzles have not been able to find the answer, but there is a long way to go. Some things may have to be personally experienced to make the right choice I think. Of course, I may not know how to choose by then.
