The first half was a bit procrastinated. After a long time, I focused on the relationship between the protagonist's family and the beginning of the story was a little suspenseful.
The roles are very real, and they don't know how to do heroism. Children's impulse, naiveness, wanting to pretend to be mature, adults' cowardice, retreat, and contradictions are all performed.
The end of the second half is a bit rush, I feel that the protagonist's family is doing things a bit too smoothly. The first half is blocked by various rejections of the town residents, and the second half wants to re-elect the sheriff and wants the criminal to confess guilt. It is a little too smooth.
