#超新星# (Supernova) (A-) A pair of gays who have been in love for many years plus a snoring dog, cuddling each other through the last journey of life, let the memories stay in the best moments forever. Although the film clearly tells a tragedy, it is full of love from beginning to end, envy others. I don’t remember the last time I was moved by a heterosexual couple on the screen. Most of the heterosexual couples on the screen are quarreling and cheating. Only gay stories can see what true love is.
"Uncle Face" Colin Firth's eyes are gentle and super virtuous throughout the film. He almost forgot the arrogant and restrained gentleman roles he played back then, and instantly made people want to marry home. Although Stanley Tuzi plays a critically ill patient, he always brings light in his gestures, and his words have their own wisdom and humor, which makes people always feel his personality charm.
Although the film seems to be another story that accompanies terminally ill patients on their final journey, it explores more about how to face loss bravely and know how to let go. The couple had been married for many years at the beginning of the story. One of them was a best-selling author and the other was a famous pianist. They had a successful career and had many friends. Stanley Tucci played Tusk, who was originally a brilliant and passionate person, but he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Not only did he need someone to take care of him, but the more painful thing was that his memory was constantly disappearing. He didn't want others to see him in a state of dying illness, and he didn't want to forget who his love was one day, and eager to end his life as soon as possible. But his lover Sam couldn't accept the result of losing him, and only hoped to accompany him through every last time.
The story takes place during a period when two people return to Sam’s hometown to visit relatives. The two have a lot of sex scenes, but they are not passionate scenes. They just sleep in the caravan, the old childhood bed and the bed of the country house. Whether it's eating, watching the stars together, or taking a walk, it looks like an old couple's affection. In the chat, I accidentally mentioned the good times I have traveled and the familiarity with each other's personalities and habits. The sweetness can be felt from these details of life. It is these details that lay the foundation, making people feel that the memories between them are precious, and when facing the loss of these memories, it becomes even more painful. Was it to watch these memories that belonged to them disappear, or did they stop before the memory flowed away?
Between the two, on the surface Sam is more emotional, easy to be emotional, but also more willing to express his emotions; Tusk has always wanted to maintain his chic and indifferent image, but he wrote to Sam at dinner The thank you words still reveal the heart's reluctance and gratitude. This film does not sympathize with the so-called "obstacles" or challenges from the outside world in the love movie, but only describes the deep friendship between a couple and the reluctance to face the difference. If the story happened between the opposite sex, it is completely valid, but it is not necessarily more contagious than the interpretation of the two.
When two men are so affectionate and gentle for each other and the people around them, there is indeed an illusion that makes people feel that the world has become better. Isn't it? Because many times, many straight men we see lack such delicate emotions. Like in previous movies, middle-aged straight men are often portrayed as sitting there smoking, getting drunk and losing their temper, or even violent. But in gay movies, they are often replaced by playing piano, poetry, watching stars, tailoring suits, and a glass of red wine. They will talk about which restaurant in Paris they have been to, and wander down the deserted streets. As a straight man, no matter whether he thinks about it or not, he will not say it.
I personally think that Colin Firth's performance is more emotional, memorable, and more worthy of being shortlisted, because it is really very different from his previous role.
Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci were also friends for many years.
