If putting on a wig gives you absolute power, humor and color usage can offer a film definitelife. "Zama" is a perfect example for cynicaljuxtapositionand naked ripping of a character. "Zama" himself from my prospective is a ultimate prototype of a white heterosexual male living in the era of colonialism. His unique value towards his own pride and family really lighted up a lot of the scenes. Animals with different fur colors and the beautiful weather near the beach are all sub-elements that are adding up to the main atmosphere of the confusion and horror this man have experienced. The movie has a strong narrative, one thing that parallels the timeliness is the loneliness and masculinity of "Zama". As a Spanish superior male, his admiration and desire towards the Spanish noblewoman Luciana Piñares de Luenga was vivid and desperate. When the man showed his docile face towards a woman, you know what he really desires. His "preference" towards white women is also interesting. And judging by other men, one man can commonly get defensive and irrational. When "Zama" lies in the boat at the end of the film after finished chasing a luxuriousand deludeddream, he realized what lies within this oasis is the true "golden shame" of the colonists and a monster that lives inside of him.lies in the boat at the end of the film after finished chasing a luxuriousand deludeddream, he realized what lies within this oasis is the true "golden shame" of the colonists and a monster that lives inside of him.lies in the boat at the end of the film after finished chasing a luxuriousand deludeddream, he realized what lies within this oasis is the true "golden shame" of the colonists and a monster that lives inside of him.

7/10. With bright colors and open outdoor spaces, very few movies use such a high-frequency panorama to express a single character clue, and push the plot forward through the subtle actions of the characters. Zama wanted to escape subjectively, but in the end the wider space restricted his movement, just like a shot of the bottom of the swamp in the film: a group of catfish struggling to disturb each other's living space-Zama's living area was also engulfed Enter between the colonial home country and the indigenous people. The most interesting thing about watching movies is the exquisite and complex sound track. Human voices, environmental sounds and psychological sounds are clearly mixed together. For example, a typical auditory scheduling section uses gunshots to transfer a fixed-shot conversation between two people. The horse-killing scene outside the Governor's Mansion, when an alpaca walked into the painting, its voice was like a ghost outside the frame. The director often looks for the picture-in-picture structure of the plane composition to create overlapping meanings between people and the environment. For example, Zama negotiates funeral expenses with priests. The structure of the door separates the two from the silver-gray powder sprinkled on the corpse in the background, and hides it. The magic of political meaning, including the ghost boy seen when Zama, who was dying at the end, was sent on a canoe to the depths of the swamp.

    Fernández: A book, Governor.

Zama: We need to draft a letter to be sealed and...

Gobernador II: A book? A book? Make children, not books. Learn a lesson from our Magistrate, Manuel.

Fernández: I can't know how my children will be. But I do know how this book will be.
