A moralist's rollover

This story is one of the most favorite stories I have seen in Rohmer's movies. The plot is very sour and refreshing. An intellectual who has read too many books and self-esteem meets a beautiful, charming but indulgent woman who makes him shameless. He is attracted to her uncontrollably and cannot extricate himself from wanting. Have a relationship with her, but at the same time despise her style of behavior. Just struggling, only to find that this woman didn't mean anything to herself, but chose her own good friend. Now things became much more interesting. The intellectuals consciously lose face and are mixed with contempt for the heroine. Mixed with more anger and irritation that could not be desired, he finally had to leave in a desperate manner. An interesting story, the overturn of the moral guard.

The Collector quotes

  • Daniel: The more girls a guy has, the more he's suspect. The important thing is not to be liked. It flatters me. It's nice not to be in her collection.

  • Daniel: Screw her, old man!
