When I watched it, I kept thinking, mother, that is sister Qin, why is she always so "calm and indifferent"?
Of course, she didn't really want to have an epiphany. The eldest son Ahao committed suicide, and her husband killed the younger son Ahe. She would cry and yell. Because she will be afraid and will collapse.
But more often, she is calm and indifferent.
As a mother, as a wife, as a mother-in-law, facing Ah He was about to be sentenced to be disciplined, the husband refused to protect him in court. Not long after, the 15-year-old "daughter-in-law", who became pregnant without marriage, came to the door again, thinking Give birth to a child for Ah He. Every trouble broke into her life on her own, becoming a burden she must carry on her shoulders, and her feet seemed to be stepped in the mud, sinking deeper and deeper, but she always accepted it calmly and indifferently. .
Director Zhong Menghong’s characterization is closer to expressionism. These settings are to weaken sister Qin’s instinct as a real person and strengthen her femininity.
Behind that unusually calm and even a little numb face, I could clearly feel a kind of power, which made her feel like a pin on the sea. No matter how strong the wind and waves are, no matter how dangerous, she can be suppressed below the sea level. Even if she is exhausted and looks like she hasn't slept in a long time, I just believe she will not fall.
As a woman, I am deeply in awe of this power like a needle in the sea.
In fact, she is not a good mother. Two sons, a son who is preparing for re-examination and whose grades are fairly good is suspected of being depressed. He chose to jump off the building to end his life. Until she saw the girl her son had dated, Sister Qin didn’t know. What happened to Howe before his death. Another upper middle school became more and more violent, learned boxing and fights everywhere, and finally instigated a friend to cut off the arm of the person who bullied him, until the "daughter-in-law" aunt and her agreed on the future of the two, Sister Qin I don't know how Ah He became like this. In the past, she had tried hard to love these two children, Director Zhong Menghong did not explain very clearly. But the result of her inability to influence the fate of her child is beyond doubt.
She is not a good wife either. She doesn't communicate much with her husband, and her husband is stubborn and has a bad temper. She usually chooses to remain silent after her husband is at odds with each other. So regarding the conflict between her husband and Ah He, she is almost indulgent or even evasive. When she wanted to communicate, she couldn't really listen and introspect. During the visit, she blamed Ah He for not communicating with them, and also blamed her husband for not supporting her son enough. She really doesn't have any "more scientific" life wisdom such as "the eight things you must do if you want to be a better person".
But this is what I like most about the work of Director Zhong Menghong. He always tells us with great care that our "incompetence" far exceeds our cognition in the control of life and destiny. But it is always difficult for us to face it frankly-and this can directly alleviate or eliminate the pain we cannot ask for. But we always deceive ourselves in order to escape it, creating new pain to cover up the old pain.
Therefore, I like what I mentioned at the beginning. When director Zhong Menghong set Qin sister, he gave her such a "calm and indifferent" face that looked like a paralyzed facial nervous system, and hidden the power behind it.
Its motives are neither great nor beautiful, but it is very strong, difficult to entangle, difficult to suppress, and difficult to eliminate. This is a force that can be confronted with the most unsolvable despair. I thought about it, maybe it's because sister Qin's purpose is more primitive, and she's more ignorant and fearless. In this story, or in real life, there is no power gathered in a small universe at all, which can be boiled into a pot of spiritual chicken soup, so that the suffering will disappear, and even the painful feelings can not be easily alleviated. Many times, the pain is just deliberately buried by us, and then selectively forgotten-you see, I have read a few books on anthropology, I love this kind of "unworthy" book bags. So if I were sister Qin, I would probably use this as a stalk, cursing all day long, which is very disturbing to the people.
But it doesn't matter, even then, life is enough to continue. I think Sister Qin thought about this calmly and indifferently, and got on the back seat of the bicycle that Ahe had stolen. And this is the most important thing, she never doubted it.
