Italian movies are always good at telling stories about small people. Three friends, from World War II to the 70s, nearly 30 years of separation and reunification. The whole story is lightly weighted. There is no judgment of right and wrong, and there is no too sharp dramatic conflict, just like a low. Yin's mandolin minor, sometimes peaceful and romantic, sometimes lightly teasing, and sometimes revealing a touch of sadness.
The three friends in the story have embarked on completely different life journeys. They used to fight together, carnival together, misunderstood each other, and went to different things, intertwined with chaotic wars, romantic love, and complex social realities. They are different. The characters seem to be doomed to their different destinies. The scenes of typical Italian humorous scenes in the film make the whole theater laugh endlessly, and the changes of right and wrong that have appeared over the decades, make you have to calm down and think deeply.
It is worth mentioning that there are many plots in this movie that pay tribute to classic movies, and even "The Bike Thief" and "Sweet Life" are directly transplanted into the plot. The technique is quite subtle and will definitely make you love old movies. The audience smiled knowingly~
