On May 10, the posthumous work "A Mother's Revenge" by the Bollywood Empress Shili Daiyu was released in mainland theaters.
This film adapted from the black bus gang rape case in Delhi, India , from the perspectives of mothers and women, accuses the inaction of the system and the law, and expresses an angry cry on behalf of 600 million Indian women.
Arya, an 18-year-old high school girl, was dragged into a car by four men when she was about to go home after attending a party and committed a gang rape.
Even more cruel, they punched and kicked Arya in order to get her, and even planned to strangle her afterwards, and then threw her unconscious into the stinking ditch.
Subsequently, the police quickly arrested these four people. Ironically, they were acquitted by the court due to the sophistry of the defendant's lawyer.
Arya's stepmother, Daweiqi, could not accept such a verdict. Looking at Arya, who was scarred, she decided to seek justice for her daughter herself.
After careful planning, Da Weiqi let 4 people die, become seriously ill, or go to jail, personally avenge Arya, and let her get out of the shadow of being gang raped and start a new life again.
Many people complained that the heroine in the film was too powerful, and the plot of revenge on the rapist was full of loopholes, and finally let the heroine succeed in revenge.
But in fact, the moral behind the mother's revenge is women's resistance.
The realistic ending of the Delhi black bus gang rape case was not as complete as the film. The real victim died 13 days after the incident because of his injuries, and the culprit who committed the evil has not been punished so far.
It is precisely because the reality is so disappointing that women who have suffered injustice resisted in anger, and expressed their inner dissatisfaction and anger towards reality, as well as their cry and desire for justice, by using mothers to avenge their daughters.

How high is the rape rate in India?
The answer may be horrifying.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Crime Statistics (NCRB), in 2014, there were 36,735 rapes in India; in 2015, 34,651 rapes occurred in India.
In other words, on average, about 100 rapes occur almost every day. If you count the unreported rapes, this data may be even greater.
More than 100 rape cases are happening every day in a country ruled by law and in the 21st century based on human nature and civilization. This is really chilling.
What's more tragic is that there are unimaginable cruelty and brutality that accompanies rape.
The program "The Truth Interview" hosted by Amir Khan had a special investigation on rape cases in India. Many cases have shown that women will be abused inhumanely while being raped.
A 20-year-old girl was suddenly dragged into the car by a few drunks on her way off work. Four days later, her parents were told by the police to claim the body, and her body was already terrible. Strong acid was poured into her eyes, nails were also nailed, a bottle was inserted in her lower body, and her whole body was covered with scars.
In a small village in India, a college student disappeared on his way home. Her body was found on a playground the next day. Her death was very tragic. The body was broken into several pieces.
In northern India, rapists brutally cut off the victim’s tongue to avoid exposure.
...
Shooting, throwing into the railway, burning to death... Cruel abuses you can think of and you can't imagine can happen to rape victims.
Sadly, most victims cannot get justice for themselves.
According to the data disclosed by Amir Khan in "The Truth Interview", in 2012, Indian courts accepted 101041 rape cases, but only 3563 cases were actually convicted, accounting for only 3.5%. If unaccepted cases are counted, the conviction rate Probably less than 1%.
The ultra-low conviction rate indulged rapists to a certain extent, and they committed all kinds of atrocities against women without fear. They did not pay any price.
Only the victim and his family were injured.
03
Why is the rape conviction rate so low?
This is from the three aspects of the police, hospitals and courts.
1) Police inaction
After the victim disappeared, when the family members noticed something was wrong, they often chose to report to the police as soon as possible, but the police did not act for various reasons .
A victim’s father said: “The police said they didn’t have a car. They needed a car to find my daughter and the criminals. They asked us for a car.”
This situation is also reflected in "A Mother's Revenge". After Da Weiqi discovered that Arya had lost contact, she immediately went to the police station to call the police, but the police said that Arya might have gone on a date. This is normal, so she was asked to go back and wait. No measures have been taken.
In addition, the victims did not receive the respect that the police deserved . They regarded the victims as unclean and even imprisoned the victims.
In the rape case of an 11-year-old girl, the girl was detained by the police for six days. The girl was not allowed to contact her family. She also threatened to confirm her testimony as required, otherwise her parents and brothers would be killed.
Some police even suggested that the victim should be private and not to get angry.
Ms. Shamina, a member of the National Women’s Council of India, said: “ 90% of the cases have highlighted the inaction of the police, because when such cases happen to women and children, the police have never shown the attitude they should have. In my own responsibilities, I will find fault with the victim."
As the enforcer of justice, the police failed to fulfill their obligations when the victim suffered injustice, condoned the criminal and hurt the victim. In a sense, they can also be regarded as accomplices.
2) The hospital is indifferent
To victims through legal means to recover their own justice, injuries often go to the hospital for tests, but many doctors do not want to testify, for various reasons refused, even scare the victim, this check will damage the health, lead to Infertility.
Even if a doctor agrees to examine the victim, they will not treat the victim as a patient, but as a criminal. They do not respect the privacy of the victim and attract strange eyes from others.
They are extremely indifferent to the victims and do not care about the harm suffered by the victim, on the contrary, they increase the victim's harm.
The doctor used the victim's examination process as a clinical instruction, showing it to the interns, and even let the interns practice it themselves.
A girl with a nail in her lower body was taken to the hospital, and the doctor did not even give her anesthesia.
A girl was so badly injured that she could not even sit down, but the doctor only gave her a pill and discharged her from the hospital.
The doctor's indifference made the victim hurt and hurt, and this kind of injury was as serious as the injury done by the rapist, so that many victims could not get the evidence to get justice for themselves.
3) The court does not pay attention
Many rape cases in India have a particularly long trial time, which is not unrelated to the court’s preference for the defendant .
Every time the defendant appears in court, the defendant will be asked if there is a lawyer, and if not, a lawyer will be assigned. But the victims will not be treated like this, and only one prosecutor will defend them.
However, there is only one prosecutor in a court, who holds the entire court case in his hands, and does not have enough energy to defend the victim. In addition, the court appearance is the first time the prosecutor and the victim have met, and they cannot communicate with each other in advance.
Such discrimination is very detrimental to the victims.
In addition, cases are often adjourned due to trivial matters, which delays the trial time.
Ms. Rupa Reka said: "I have dealt with such a case. The reason for adjourning the court was that the defendant's lawyer wanted to move the court debate elsewhere because family affairs prevented him from getting away. I also encountered an appointment with the defendant's lawyer at home. The priest met, and the date was changed."
Many victims have collected enough evidence, but due to court reasons, they have not been able to get justice for themselves for several years or even more than ten years, and finally they have nothing to do with it.
Due to the inaction of the police, hospitals, and courts, many victims will regret their decision to seek justice through legal means. Some people cannot accept the reality and finally choose to commit suicide.
The police, hospitals and courts are the most indispensable for a case to be handled fairly. If these three parties do not act, how can we expect the victim to get justice back?
No wonder Amir Khan said: "In India, the law protects rapists more."
04
India has become a country with a high incidence of rape cases, in the final analysis, because the status of men is much higher than that of women.
The victims in rape cases are not only young and beautiful girls, but also children as young as a few months and elderly people in their nineties. The reason why rapists choose them is not because of sexual desire, but because of Prove ability.
They think that their gender is superior, so they abuse women wantonly and get some satisfaction or pleasure from it.
This point is also reflected in "A Mother's Revenge". The reason why Arya suffered misfortune was because he did not agree with the male classmate’s confession and rejected the male classmate’s cousin, causing them to hold a grudge and plan the rape together. .
What they pay more attention to is their inviolable male status.
The attitude of society towards victims also condones rapists to a certain extent.
In India, if a woman suffers from such a thing, she will be regarded as unclean, ashamed, and sinful by the people around her. Relatives and friends will stay away from the family and give them pointers so that they cannot lead a normal life.
Therefore, many victims either choose to commit suicide afterwards or choose to conceal it, giving the rapist a chance to get away with it.
From January to October 2012, 255 gang rapes occurred in Madhya Pradesh, India alone, among which 26 victims chose to commit suicide.
What really kills them is India's deep-rooted patriarchal thinking.
Fortunately, in recent years, India has begun to awaken, and many good movies advocating feminist awareness have appeared frequently, making people begin to realize the root of the problem and gradually get better.
The status of women is improving. I believe that in the future, the rape rate in India will be lower and lower, and more and more victims will seek justice for themselves.
