Hou Xiaoxian's film can be pulled so slowly. Playing ball can be so slow, closing doors can be so slow, washing face can be so slow, smoking can be so slow. That kind of slowness does not make people lose patience. As I said at the beginning, this narrative has French heritage, but what I read is Chinese poetry.
Shu Qi's acting skills are getting better and better. I like her bewildered look after seeing the boy come to her in the first paragraph. Turning around when we shed tears at the end of the second paragraph felt like a failure. In the third paragraph, after returning home, she looked at the note that her girlfriend had left lying on the bed. It was very beautiful. I was deeply impressed by the photo of her breathing in the water, exhaling bubbles and widening blue pupils.
As for Zhang Zhen, he always felt that he was a man who should pick more good films, the kind of silent one. His raspy, gentle appearance is very lethal.
I like the soundtrack very much. Rain and Tears. When he shook her hand, he just missed that beat. The music in the third paragraph is also good. Especially like the end of the section where she and him are speeding on the road, and then enter the subtitles. If I watch it in a cinema, for this music, I am willing to sit in the cinema until everyone is gone.
