The second part of the free dream, I saw a silent version, the way of doing it in the black and white silent film era: play a paragraph, and then type the lines just now on the screen. The scene of the brothel is very similar to "Flowers on the Sea", but also as boring as the flowers on the sea. Hou Xiaoxian himself is a director who pays much attention to politics, but this time he talks about politics. But in the end it seems to have become: "A man who keeps saying that he wants to liberate China, but has not liberated the woman he loves." Shu Qi played the brothel girl is not free. She has a longing for freedom, but her dream is broken. Listening to the propaganda of freedom, what I get in the end is disappointment. I wonder if this is what Hou wants to hide?
The last dream of youth is a bit shocking. This shock is not a surprise, but a surprise, how could Hou film such a thing? Pointless is my biggest feeling. The whole content seems to be just a patchwork of some young people's life pictures. Yes, it's just a picture, but no substance. The film lists: one-night stand, homosexuality, decadence, depression and other phenomena in young people. Finally, it ended in the list. It makes people feel that the serious Hou Xiaoxian suddenly played psychedelic at this age.
There is no connection between the three parts. . If you have seen Hou Xiaoxian's previous movies, then he hasn't made a breakthrough in this one. Nothing new.
The film is the most worth watching. If it is a bit mean, the only thing worth watching is the first part. Perhaps because this part of the era is in Hou Xiaoxian's memories, he directed it so appropriately. The kind that is just right is very fascinating, although the story is simple and the time is short. But it suddenly immersed people in the movie. It makes people feel that this time is indeed like the name of the movie, it is the best time. After watching the first part, I was full of expectations for the latter two. But the more I watched, the more disappointed. But no wonder. Originally Three Times was a series filmed by three directors. (Like Three... Extremes (three shifts)) But because of insufficient budget, Hou Xiaoxian finally filmed everything. I can imagine Hou originally planned to only shoot his "love dream", but in the end he had to make extravagances.
