Good and evil, justice and the rule of law

Today, I watched Prisoners with a friend of my American crime drama fan (+expert). After reading it, I discussed it for a long time. After reading a few reviews, I wanted to write my understanding and analysis. Maybe it's wrong, just for your discussion and reference.

1. Alex (IQ10 male) and Maze Snake male are both victims of Auntie. It should be Auntie who instructed the labyrinth snake man to steal the clothes of the two children, put the blood in the snake box, and turn the target suspect towards him. The handsome detective uncle Loki finally understood. He went under the window of Keller's (Uncle Wolverine) house and saw another sock, which was accidentally dropped by the labyrinth snake man when he escaped from the window.
2. The man in the basement of the pastor’s house is Uncle. There is no doubt that when he said that Uncle came to him to confess and abuse his children, I thought about it, but I didn’t expect that Auntie was also a participating accomplice, so I didn’t think much about that. . (At the time I was still confused about this paragraph, I don’t know how Loki found the basement. I saw the plug that was stretched out of the socket, and then I didn’t understand it too much. Thanks to my crime drama fan friend who explained to me: The plug is from the refrigerator. The refrigerator was moved so far that the wire was tightened to block the entrance to the basement. Loki captured this detail, moved the refrigerator and saw the entrance.)
3. I think what Alex said in the parking lot He wanted to help Keller, and a "ten-year-old kid" wanted to help him and tell the truth. But then Auntie must have a lesson to intimidate him, so that he dare not say a word afterwards.
4. Alex finally said: the maze does not mean that the maze is really a map, but reveals that uncle and aunt are the big bosses. He and the Labyrinth Snake were both persecuted since childhood. They must have a deep memory of the Uncle Labyrinth Necklace. This also caused the Labyrinth Snake to draw mazes all the time (it is so awkward to see the maze full of walls he painted).
5. The little black girl said: you were there. It should have been the first time Keller went to the auntie's house to hear or see him. Keller realized that she hurried to the aunt's house to check.
6. "Uncle the maze and you will be able to go home." I don't think it means too much. It should just be part of the imprisonment at the time of Uncle, and let them solve the maze.
7. I think Keller will definitely be rescued. Loki is so upright, how could he not save him? When he heard the whistle, he would definitely think of this whole incident. In the hospital, Keller's wife also told him that her husband is a good person and has not been contacted for so long. I think the deeper meaning is that his husband will not run away because of the single thing of abuse of Alex. Otherwise, knowing that his daughter was rescued (it will definitely be in the newspaper), how could Keller not go home to reunite, besides, Alex is not dead, and will not be sentenced to death or a life sentence. I think Loki will figure out all these things.
8. One thing I can't figure out is why the police uncle didn't find the trace of Keller's visit to the aunt's house? ? Aunt also said that drop your phone in the sink, there is no Keller’s phone in the sink? Could it be that Aunt was so flexible, drove the broken car to the opening of the hole, drove the Keller car away, and disposed of Keller's toolbox and mobile phone; before Loki came, she didn't have so much time. . .

Finally, talk about my little thoughts on the film. The most prominent message the film gave me was justice. Most of the characters in the film are "evil", even black couples have an evil side, not to mention Keller. It is precisely because of justice that Keller's abuse is not allowed. The newspaper reported that he was still missing. Most people must have thought that he had escaped because of forcing Alex to confess. And because of Alex's situation, the public's sentiment must be more biased towards him, ignoring Keller's eager helplessness in saving the woman. I think Loki is a representative of justice in the film, keeping track of cases and insisting on the right things. And I think this justice will eventually save Keller.

Prisoners quotes

  • Keller Dover: Don't talk to them.

Ralph Dover: [Looks up at Keller, confused and distraught] Eliza told me they're dead... Is it true?

    Keller Dover: No.

Ralph Dover: Well, she said... they found... their bloody clothes...

Keller Dover: Don't you tell your mother that. Don't you *dare* tell your mother that. Do you understand me? Now, I need you to listen to me...

    [whispering harshly]

Keller Dover: I need you to stay and run the house for a couple of days; and you make sure she does not watch the news and when the paper comes, you just throw it the fuck away! Listen to me... We do *not* give up on your sister. We do *not*!

    [pauses, while trembling]

Keller Dover: I'm gonna find her... I'm gonna bring her home. We do not give up.

Ralph Dover: You're gonna bring her *home*? She's *dead*, *you* can't do anything, you've been leaving me and mom here while you've been going out and getting *fucking drunk*! You think I can't smell it on you?

Keller Dover: [Keller grabs Ralph's shoulders, whips him around, and pins him against the wall in a fury] *SHUT UP*!

  • Keller Dover: He's not a person anymore.
