When I found out that Ben Affleck was in the B moment, similar words can be seen in the movie media. Is Ben Affleck the next Eastwood? Regardless of his direction as a director, it seems that we can already make a conclusion: no. This is not to run on his future, but because Eastwood’s career as an actor is really dying, while Affleck’s career as an actor is really declining. Six films were nominated in the nomination of "Bad Actor". For this reason, it is obvious that the industry has already had some emotional reactions to his performance. Inspiringly, he will either smash to the bottom of the performance, or he will be unknown forever. However, he unexpectedly chose the path of director, and soaring to the sky, he was already praised by the third "Escape from Tehran", and the momentum was broken during the awards season. Although the Oscar nomination was not short-listed for best director, he won Ben as the Oscar director. The honor of the Directors’ Guild at the Best Outpost Award still made him proud. In my opinion, "Escape from Tehran" is hardly a masterpiece in terms of the theme, background and depth of the film, but it is already very good, and Ben Affleck, as the director, has indeed shown good director skills in it.

The story of "Escape from Tehran" sounds a little bizarre. The espionage work and the rescue of the hostages are all things that you have to sit down and take seriously, but the result is not good. The experts even came up with a weird trick to make a movie, and it is still in the country. The level is passed. Therefore, Affleck chose the theme much better than when he chose the script when he was an actor. This theme is novel enough at first, and at the same time, it has more natural political correctness. Some time ago, I read the "Foreign Policy" magazine, and there was an article from the American Enterprise Research Institute. The article by Danielle Pletka, deputy director of the Institute of Foreign and Defense Policy, seems to me a mess of hawks. It criticizes the Obama administration’s inaction and incompetence in diplomacy without mercy, and praises the Reagan administration. There is a plus. This kind of voice is actually not a minority. The public opinion of the United States and its allies has been constantly accusing the Obama administration of diplomatic inaction. The Iran issue is a common attack point, and President Carter was not re-elected because of his puss on the Iran hostage crisis. The performances are closely linked, and Reagan, who succeeded him, has performed more sturdily in diplomacy, and is still considered by the American hawks to be an important figure in defeating the evil empire of the Soviet Union. Therefore, a movie like "Escape from Tehran" is worth seeing. I saw that in the Iranian hostage crisis, the highest level either hesitated or acted hastily. Only responsible agents and two neurotic film industries were left. The people tried their best to save six American citizens who might be executed at any time. Comparing the two, the U.S. government still has a magical face.

Of course, no matter how correct the theme is, the film will not necessarily succeed. Affleck has excellent clue arrangement and sense of rhythm on this film. In the general environment and the main line, Affleck exaggerated a manic and dangerous atmosphere in Iran as soon as he came up. After that, he did not excessively amplify this atmosphere, but continued to show it with a partial view of the whole picture in markets and airports. This kind of atmosphere shows his maturity. Many directors accidentally pay too much attention to the background of historical events when shooting such themes. After the beginning of the film, Affleck mainly used TV screens, newspapers, etc. to highlight it. His main energy is still focusing on the main line, especially the promotion of domestic rescue operations in the United States and the strengthening of the sense of crisis among American citizens in Iran. Interestingly, the rhythm of the two main lines is different. The preparation process for the film in the United States can be described as orderly, while the situation of the six American citizens in Tehran is precarious. This contrast has gradually increased the tension of the film and made the audience watch it. The situation of several people in Tehran is anxious, watching the slow pace in the United States, and this anxiety is even more important. Even if it is a historical event, many people already know the result, but it is still rendered by the atmosphere of the film.

The film finally escaped from Tehran for a really thrilling shot. There were no runaways, no speeding cars, and no gunfire in this process, but the sense of tension made people impatient. From the time the male protagonist hesitated whether to continue to act and was "late" to the Swiss Airlines flight finally flying out of Iranian airspace, the whole process was done in one go. The entire "crew" broke through a dangerous node, and the director immediately took the next one. No breathing room for the audience, especially when the sentry at the airport suspected the identity of the fugitive to call a studio far away in the United States, and the two "producers" were a few steps away from the studio, and Tehran chasing soldiers were on the way. To the airport, several lines were advancing simultaneously, and the anxiety and tension created were really exciting. Finally, when the flight finally escaped from Tehran, the audience who had already been substituted will also experience the relaxation of the fugitives. In the whole process, the irony and run on the American bureaucracy were always accompanied. The government departments under bureaucracy became a model of failing and failing. Therefore, the agents in front were busy dealing with the Iranians, and the colleagues in the rear were busy dealing with the lack of imagination. And bureaucrats who only care about "national honor", of course, this seems understandable. After all, how many people don't think this rescue plan is really outrageous? Therefore, individual heroism is still permeated in this film, and the Carter government is considered to be further eliminated in the film, even though he approved the most critical ticket.

"Escape from Tehran" is a serious and interesting movie on the theme, including the film style, with a serious and tense main line, and two film professionals gagging, John Goodman and Alan Akin. The improper performance is really the highlight of the film, just like the must-have character in Disney animation that is funny outside of serious themes. Ben Affleck’s performance also appeared to be much calmer. As the male lead, he played a very calm and even quiet role. Originally, he was more handsome as a long man, but he did not have the characteristics of being handsome. His voice is not rusty or magnetic. An ordinary actor who lacks a special aura, such a restrained and low-key role is more effective. In fact, Ben Affleck doesn’t need to do a second Eastwood. Perhaps on the way of directing, he might even do a bigger career than Eastwood. It seems that Oscar's best director or film is only a matter of time, and in his director career, there should be more than one figurine.
