Evil is overwhelming?

This is an early classic drama, the whole process is very tense.

What impressed me was that the observer’s girlfriend asked the male protagonist. At the time the government came to you, why did you agree? The male protagonist’s eyes were firm and frustrated and said, because they knew my weaknesses. Once I was patriotic, I would still Easily deceived, I will respond in a tight-kept manner, and I need to do something. This sentence touched me deeply. Every one of us cares about things, losing loved ones, and losing friends, but we can't give up what we insist on even if we are severely hurt in the face of things we care about.

At the end of the story, the male protagonist chooses to believe in the government, firmly believes that he is innocent, and believes that the country he has been protecting will give him justice, but reality is reality, and the balance is always biased towards the power. The desperate male protagonist can only choose to do justice and pursue his own justice. He shot and killed the behind-the-scenes man he knew. In the end, the male protagonist did not let go. The country he protected would eventually kill him, even if he killed everyone. Can't you get the innocence you deserve? Maybe this is what the director wants to convey to the audience. Sometimes it's not that evil is overwhelming, but absolute justice must be mixed with a certain amount of evil, and life is always full of helplessness. .

Shooter quotes

  • Nick Memphis: [sips coffee, chokes, coughs]

    Mr. Rate: [smiling] Good coffee?

    Nick Memphis: Yeah.

  • Mr. Rate: Would've been a bad job to take, though.

    Nick Memphis: How come?

Mr. Rate: Whoever took that shot's probably dead now. That's how conspiracy works. Them boys on the grassy knoll, they were dead within three hours. Buried in the damn desert. Unmarked graves out past Terlingua.

Nick Memphis: And you know this for a fact?

Mr. Rate: Still got the shovel!
