Al Pacino does not have the kindness and enmity of other gangster movies, no complacency, only family trivialities, son's accidents, friend's betrayal, financial constraints. When he said with red eyes, "If you are an undercover agent, I am the biggest fool in the history of the Mafia", it really hurts.
He and Downey were arrested, and he shouted, "Donny, don't say anything, they will let you out in 24 hours." Even if he knew that Downey was an undercover agent, he still hoped that Downey would come to his house and asked his wife to tell Downey, "Even if there is an undercover agent, I am very happy that it is you." The boss called him to come over, knowing how bad things are, so before going out, put the rings, necklaces, and a stack of change in the drawer, and opened the drawer intimately to prevent his wife from not being able to find it. It feels like he is the real victim in this story.
