Analyze a next-generation classic action scene

What kind of movie is Kingsman? Many people have given a lot of definitions.

Some say it is a superhero movie, a science fiction movie, or a spy movie.

But for me, I think the first Kingsman is a very exciting action movie.

My analogy for this film, I like to use these two

One is

Rush to Kill (2007)
7.4
2007 / United States / Action Thriller / Michael Davis / Cliff Owen, Monica Bellucci

The other one is

Fast Hunting (2014)
7.7
2014 / United States / Action crime thriller / David Rechthard Stahlsky / Keanu Reeves and Michael Enqvist

Kingsman certainly has his own humor, some classic elements attached to the core

But for me, I now recall the first part of Kingsman, and I think the most important thing is that the first part of Kingsman has very, very powerful action scenes.

Mainly the church scene of Colin Firth (it is said that the domestic version has deleted the lol···)

If there is a huge highlight in a movie and other elements are well completed, it becomes a very good movie. Kingsman 1st generation is such a movie.

In contrast, the second part does not have such a prominent highlight. Although the elements are similar to those of the first generation, there are a lot of big-name actors, but it does not produce any effect like the first generation.

This section of Church Fight may be underestimated by many people for its guiding significance, but by reading the explanation of this section in the Blu-ray, you will understand how much thought was spent in the fight from design to shooting and production.

What a fight in a movie needs is to create a period of chaos, then threaten the protagonist with a high rhythm, and then let the protagonist deal with the threat.

What you need to shoot a fight is to control the level of confusion.

In John Wick movies, the director likes to use a shooting method that I think can be called a "medium-length lens", that is, the protagonist keeps moving the scene, switching and editing the camera angle every time the scene is moved, but in In each scenario, it takes a few seconds to 10 seconds or even a minute to solve multiple threats.

Compared to Shoot Em Up , it uses a large number of exaggerated clips to shoot action scenes, including having sex with Monica Bellucci while holding Monica Bellucci. It is also one of the representatives of high-speed editing action movies. It can be said that there are many similar ones, such as action movies such as Ip Man, or the Bourne series, they all like this.

Shoot em up I couldn't find a specific domestic video, only found the introduction of the whole movie at station B:

Back to Church Fight

For Kingsman’s battle, first of all, the music was chosen well.

In the video given by John Wick, John Wick used psychedelic electronic disco as the background music with fast-paced action in the nightclub, which made the whole process full of pleasure, especially with the chaotic screaming crowd.

Church Fight has had the highest score in the soundtrack. The name of the song Free Bird itself has a directional meaning for Colin Firth's influence and runaway at the time. And the opening lyrics ïf i leave here tomorrow would you still remember me" also heralded the fate of Colin's character. Not to mention that the lyrics of Lord I can't change later seemed to be the cry of a controlled and violent Colin.

And the location of the incident was only known from the second generation, near Alabama, where Lynyrd Skynyrd's other famous song "Sweet Home Alabama" was sung.

Secondly, Free Bird is a very long song (9 minutes and 10 seconds). From the slow piano sound at the beginning to the rock and Solo, a song contains N styles, and the rhythm is completely different. Only impromptu Jazz perform like this.

This piece of music as the soundtrack for this fight is simply magical.

Then I entered Church Fight. Many people think this is a full-length shot, but it's not the case.

When you watch Special Feature, you will understand that the sparks of shooting at the camera are editing points, throwing people on the ground and being killed, editing, and close-ups of other people's deaths are all editing. There was an explosion and the camera was blocked. As long as the camera left Colin, it was almost an editing.

There are actually a lot of editing for the whole scene, and this fight is also a splicing of countless medium-length and short-shot clips. But I have to say that the editing is quite subtle, it is a rare way of shooting that deliberately hides the editing to make the fight coherent.

But even more powerful is that it uses a mobile camera, and the movement is quite fine. When chasing the protagonist, the protagonist is beaten aside, and the camera is pulled aside. The protagonist forcefully moves to the left barrel of the camera, and the camera barrels to the left along with the weapon. , A person is killed, the camera immediately jumps back to the protagonist to shoot the next threat and how the protagonist removes the threat. If you look at it again now, you will find that there are actually many, many innumerable clips.

Let's see it again

Secondly, the elements of some of the excellent head shots I mentioned earlier are all here.

Encounter diversified threats, use various weapons to diversify and resolve, high-tempo, and multiple lens expressions

(The camera follows the weapon, the main perspective camera, tail chase, dynamic camera)

All this, coupled with the contrasting beauty of Uncle Colin (the uncle with long legs in the suit came to play the play) created a very shocking 10 minutes (before setting, 6 minutes of fighting, a few minutes of ending).

(Again, I didn’t expect China to cut this paragraph in China...hahahaha)

Switching to the second part, I feel mixed with Americans. This is because we should mix in different styles of fighting, and use the same shooting technique to change scenes to interpret the action. However, it did not.

In the second part, the special effects are greater than the shooting methods, and the battle is based on dance-style gun shooting. Although the stars are gathered and the cast is countless times stronger, in the second part, this film is reduced to a passerby movie. Elton John brings a sense of comedy and highlights, this one is completely brand-named. And I really like Ma Qiang, so I just lost it inexplicably.

So from the perspective of action movies, the second movie is too far behind.

The rest of the elements are actually a lot worse, but it's not worth mentioning.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle quotes

  • Poppy: My drugs are everywhere. They were never my thing, but here I am, running the biggest drug cartel in the world. The only downside is having to live in the middle of nowhere. You know, these ruins are technically undiscovered. I just added a few touches to remind me of home. I grew up on all that awesome '50s nostalgia. Grease, American Graffiti, Happy Days. But I digress. The thing you need to understand is the hard work and ingenuity it took to achieve a global monopoly on the drug trade. And that's all on me. Not to toot my own horn. I just think it's really important for new recruits to understand the history of The Golden Circle.

  • [Poppy leads Charles and Angel to the diner's counter as she puts on an apron]

Poppy: So, fellas, I have a couple of things that I wanna clarify. You understand that in The Golden Circle, my authority is never to be questioned, right? And the importance of following orders? Do you understand that? And the value of loyalty?

    [Charles and Angel nod]

Poppy: It's easy to nod, isn't it?

[Charles and Angel continue to nod]

Poppy: I don't like easy. I like proof.

[pause before Poppy looks at Angel]

    Poppy: What's your name?

    Angel: [Spanish accent] Angel, ma'am.

    Poppy: Angel, baby. Hey...

    [whispers]

Poppy: Your old pal Charles has messed up. That's all I'm gonna tell you, because that's all you need to know. So put him in the mincer, okay?

[Angel looks at the meat grinder behind the counter before everyone starts to laugh. Poppy then turns on the grinder, much to Charles' shock. Charles attempts to run, but is cornered by Poppy's robot dogs Bennie and Jet before Angel knocks him out and places him above the grinder]

    Charles: No, Miss Poppy!

[Charles screams before being turned into ground beef]

Poppy: Good job! See my salon across the way? Head there for your makeover.

[Angel walks out of the diner as Poppy places a hamburger patty on the grill]
