After reading it twice, I like it. The reason is that it is absolutely entertaining, and the visual effects are still very good, especially the 3D version. The ghosts of death are quite lively and interesting. I think the fifth episode actually maintained the advantages of this series, added new characters, and brought back almost all the old characters. If you are a fan of this series, you will definitely not be disappointed. Especially Captain Jack, his charm is still the same as that of the past, he is still motherly and cheap, quirky, and Depp is not old at all.
As for whether it is necessary to film this episode, apart from Depp's urgent need for money to ease the financial crisis, I think it is actually necessary for the audience. First, we had the opportunity to see the story of Captain Jack when he was young, but Depp's young version of dermabrasion was too serious and had no beard and chest hair, which was a bit exaggerated; second, we had the opportunity to see the little fresh meat Brenton Thwaites. If Blossom and Knightley really had a child, they should have grown up like this. Brenton did look a lot like the two of them, but he actually looked more like Knightley's younger brother. Thirdly, we have the opportunity to see the Black Pearl sailing again; fourthly, we can know the ending of Orlando Bloom's role and feel at ease.
However, I think the shortcoming of the film is that it seems to repeat old topics such as "dead souls" and "curses". The Ghost Legion trick has been used before. . . Think about it except to give Captain Jack the whole son or daughter next time, there is really no way to make up. So if I stop here, I'm also satisfied.
