Hello, everyone, I’m here to contribute again~ Maui is a Polynesian half-human and half-god hero. He is seen in the myths of various island countries in the South Pacific. Maui belongs to the secondary god (Auti) in Polynesian mythology. He likes to make jokes and pranks, but is essentially kind-hearted and popular among people.

In Maori mythology, human beings were originally descendants of gods, and like gods, they are immortal. They did not change until the Maui generation. The thing is, Maui was a premature baby who was thrown into the sea by his mother after birth. Fortunately, some gods living in the sea rescued him and hid him in seaweed until a storm sent him to the shore. Later, Maui's grandfather found him and raised him. One day, Maui returned to her mother's village and met her four brothers. At first, the brothers had a grudge against Maui, an outsider, so Maui used his supernatural power to turn himself into various birds in the jungle. In this way, the brothers were amazed one by one, and knelt down unconsciously.

After reuniting with his family, Maui discovered a strange phenomenon: every morning, her mother disappeared, and she didn't know if she was going to hook up. Oh, by the way, where did my dad go! ? So Maui turned into a dove and followed his mother to the underground world. It turned out that his dad was the guard of the underground world, and he did a day-to-day work. His father performed a baptism ceremony for Maui, but in the process he made a mistake, which caused Maui to be doomed to death. (The painting style of Maui's death is quite peculiar, so let's leave it to the end of the article.) Anyway, Maui's parents can be called the best example of a pit son. The most acclaimed story about Maui belongs to his shooting the sun... Oh no, the story of pulling the sun. One day, Maui's mother complained to him that the clothes hanging outside the house could not dry because the daylight hours were too short for other villagers to complete their daily work. Therefore, Maui, who was struggling with injustice, persuaded the brothers to go out with him and climb the mountain to the east overnight. When the sun rose, Maui wrapped the sun with a rope without saying a word, and then beaten it until the sun promised to slow down...In this way, the sunshine time would be longer, and the industrious humans finally lived nine to five. life.

Despite his supernatural power, Maui is smaller than his brother and has poor fishing skills. Every time he goes out to sea, he can only catch small fish, and he is often ridiculed for this. To prove himself, Maui asked his brothers to go fishing with him. This time, he took on the ancestral magical giant hook (made from the frontal bones of his ancestors), determined to catch the biggest fish in the sea...but the ideal is full, and the reality is fatter. Maui did not catch a big fish. Instead, an island was pulled up directly from the bottom of the sea...Later, Maui repeated the same tricks many times, and the "big fish" he caught gradually formed the Hawaiian Islands.

Maui's miraculous deeds do not stop there. As the sky gets closer and closer to the surface, people are pressed so that they cannot walk upright, and will even destroy the earth. So Maui found his father, and the two of them used their bodies to support the ground and pushed the sky back into the sky. In this way, Maui once again saved all mankind (the spine)... There is also a great story about Maui similar to Prometheus stealing fire. When Maui found out that fire had been lost on the earth, he found Mahuika, the god of fire, and offered her a deal. Maui would provide Mahuika with food and water in return, and in return, the god of fire would surrender her nails that could make fire. In fact, this is Maui's trick, because whatever Mahuika encounters, it will burn into flames. After defrauding Vulcan's nails, Maui turned into a giant eagle and escaped from Mahuika's pursuit, but because of this, the latter became irritated and turned the land into a sea of fire. Maui asked his ancestors for help and prayed for a heavy rain, which allowed the fire to subside.

There is another version of the story of Maui making fire: One day, while Maui and his brother were fishing, they found a white smoke rising from a nearby island. The curious baby Maui found an old hen (a kind of water chicken'alae'ula in the legend) along the trail. It turned out that this chicken had the secret of making a fire and was hurriedly extinguishing the fire when it was discovered. Maui then tried to make the hen think that he had returned to his brother, and actually lurked beside him, observing the hen's every move. I saw that the hen collected some branches and leaves, and soon a fire was born. Maui who was beside him was still confused, so he got up angrily and grabbed the hen, and asked how to make the fire. Shouted: "My hen! My hen!" But Maui couldn't be fooled. In order to save her life, the hen had to tell the secret of birth fire, but Maui burned the hair on the top of her head with the brand in the end. That's why the current Hawaiian water chicken looks like this...

According to legend, Maui defeated the evil eel god Te Tunaroa for a woman named Hina. Although people have different opinions about Hina's identity, some people say that she is Maui's mother, some people say that she is Maui's wife, and even Maui's sister is called Hina, so anyway, Hina is very important to Maui. This happy story is like this. Hina is often attacked by the uncle Tuna of the eel monster when he is fetching water by the river (self-braining the eel to bind the play). Hina who can not bear the harassment ran to seek Maui's help. Maui was furious after hearing this. The trap caught Tuna and chopped it into pieces of meat. Tuna's internal organs were later buried and grew into a coconut tree, and its flesh and blood also wandered into the sea and turned into the eels we see now. (But experience tells me that the villain of the story should be the octopus!)

Maui, who has created all kinds of miracles, believes that he is no one else, and he can even challenge the god of death to regain eternal life for himself and mankind. But his father objected to him doing this, because he personally cursed his son with death in the first place. Of course, Maui is still fearless. What he wants to challenge is his ancestor, a goddess who lives in the underground world. Maui took a few little birds with him (some versions turned his brother into a little bird), and found the sleeping god of death in the underground world. His legs were wide open, and the shining green rock and obsidian could be seen from it.

Maui told the birds that he must not make any noise when he walks through the body of this old woman, or I will die. Then, Maui turned into a small worm and resolutely marched towards the front hole. At this moment, the routine of the film and television drama was actually fulfilled in the myth. A little bird who was walking with Maui accidentally laughed and laughed, and then the other birds responded, and the laughter awakened the god of death one after another. Two legs were clamped, and Maui was cut in half...In this way, Maui's righteous act to save mankind ended in failure, and mankind would never be able to get immortal life. (Maui his dad: Blame me?)
