Music Review

Although every friend I watched told me that this was a bad film, and the media was consistent in verbal criticism, I was still anxious to put it in the optical drive one afternoon because of boredom and some kind of unkindness. Thanks to the dizzy yellow sun that afternoon. At that moment, together with the rustle of the wheat field in the movie, it reset my reverie memories about light, time and childhood. At that moment, I knew I would like this movie.

First of all, I must talk about the soundtrack of the film. In fact, what moved me to a large extent was the music of the film, ah! The beauty of that music is fatal to me!
Before I watched the movie, I would never buy the original soundtrack of this movie. Because based on past experience, I would know with my feet that I would know that the music of this kind of war blockbuster must be the kind of shocking big tome. But there is always a case in everything, "Pearl Harbor" is actually that kind of case. Although there is that kind of violent noise, maybe it is not done well, or it is used less, and it basically didn't attract my attention, so it can't be said to be disgusting.

And also because the main melody is a beautiful piece of music. People who have heard it will surely think of a movie, that is "Out of Africa", that heartbreaking and obsessive film, their music is surprisingly similar. At the beginning of the film, when two little boys were playing an airplane in a wheat field, it sneaked in quietly. The simple string music lingers gently like water waves, the melancholic piano expresses affectionately, and the low-frequency music pushed in from time to time is slow and solemn. Piano and string waves represent male and female respectively, and low-frequency music is naturally war. The man and the woman kept whispering, and in the shadow of the war, the ups and downs of emotions were filled with the sadness and helplessness of separation and the joy and sweetness of true love.

It's not like the rigorous and rigid tome of Williams' "Sindler's List", nor is it like the proliferation of synthesizers like Holler's Titanic that is too popular and sensational. Hans Remer's music has an all-classical structure but is very simple and free, abandoning the huge symphony layout and expressing exclusively emotional expressions, and it appears noble and lyrical. Whether in the wheat field of childhood or the farewell train station, on the flying blue sky or in the laundry room of love, the music is like autumn sunshine, full of golden, warm and sweet, and a little sad. The exquisite nostalgia is so beautiful that people shed tears!

Let's talk about actors. In most commercial films, actors are the most important element of success, which is why the value of big-name celebrities only rises but does not fall. The three actors in "Pearl Harbor" can be regarded as handsome men and women, although the other two are not well-known except Affleck. However, there are examples of Leonardo and Winswright, who successfully became popular in "Titanic", and of course they are imitated, not to mention that this is a film regardless of the script structure and shooting mode. Almost all of the films from "Titanic". Affleck's male number one is heroic, straightforward and reckless and kind, basically but not lost, of course he has not caught up with Leonardo's edge. It is worth mentioning that Josh Harnett played the male second and Kate Perkins played the female lead.

Josh's male number two is shy, introverted, elegant, and sentimental. He has a very good temperament and has the neat and elegant nostalgia of an officer in the 1940s and 50s. When showing love to the girlfriend of a "dead" friend, he played the character's excitement and joy of being in love for the first time, and the hesitation and self-blame mood of betraying a friend. And the brotherhood with Affleck, whether in harmony and disputes, his honesty and integrity have somewhat eclipsed the male number one, so that I fully hope that he is the one who gets the love in the end. The central character of the dispute is naturally the heroine. In fact, when I first saw the heroine poster, I was deeply dissatisfied with her too lifeless appearance and the few freckles on her face. But it was this plain-looking girl who conquered me with her charming temperament (commercial movies, naturally, idols are the most attractive). In fact, the heroine of a general commercial film can remarry after the hero’s death. Even if the hero is not dead, she can marry another person for some reason. This will add to the beauty of the love between the two. As long as she has no empathy, this is usually The taboo of commercial romance films, the hero and heroine must always be in love. However, this heroine is not easy. After the hero’s death, she can actually fall in love with his friends immediately, and the film gives them many scenes of love (even more than with the hero) to express their love. True love is not forced by circumstances. It is this thought that makes the heroine jump out of the vases of many commercial films, making it so different. Moreover, Kate Perkins's performance is also very good. When she first learned of her boyfriend’s death a few days before receiving a letter from her boyfriend from the battlefield, her joyful and painful blurred eyes were like "Love Letter", Hiroko received a letter from the female Fujiiki and the female Fujiiki. When I saw the portrait of the male Fujiiki gave her, I was deeply moved by the helplessness and sorrow of knowing the love but the loneliness. But when she chose another person, her ex-boyfriend suddenly returned. The shadows and the tears that slid across her face after she embraced him excitedly reminded me of another favorite actress, Julie Omond. ("The Years of Love" and "The Siberian Barber"), the kind of betrayal or abandonment of love in pursuit of happiness, the regret and dazed expression after seeing the situation turn around is a true portrayal of a secular woman, even more because of the lack of regret It's perfect!

In fact, the whole film is very hasty about the specific plot of the love story. Although a lot of space is used, it is mainly a detailed performance of some actors. The whole love event is still too concise and somewhat similar to a summary. It's up to the actors to fill in the details. This is very risky. It does not have the appeal of the basic plot and depends on the personal charm of the actors. Although it can make the drama more accessible, it is likely to become a boring soap opera. In fact, this is the most criticized movie. Clicked. But I personally think that the actors in the whole film are still very good, at least their performance impressed me. Each one is so humane, not blindly exalted (there are no heroes in ordinary war movies, but mortals with flaws and limited abilities), and it can be regarded as an anomaly among many American blockbusters. But who knows, the root cause of the film's unsuccessfulness may lie here? Sensational war films that please business fans but do not have perfect and holy love and admirable heroes. Will they still be popular with the public? It is even more impossible to create a well-intentioned anti-type character creation to break away from the film’s popular drama structure and be praised by film critics!

The last thing I want to talk about is the plot that Qianfu is referring to. The biggest reason for almost everyone who advised me not to watch it was that the film had a terrible script. Even if I wanted to watch it, they only persuaded me to watch the bombing for dozens of minutes. Ha ha! I watched it from beginning to end. I don’t know what kind of perspective my friends saw it. Did you watch it as a war movie? Compared to war films, the first two hours are indeed bad. Although from time to time there are fragments of Japanese war preparations to brew the Miyun of war, it is still not enough. The war is interactive. The American muna made the war lose its sense of compactness and tension at the beginning. Although the sudden bombing was earth-shattering, it was because of a single attack by one side and a single attack by the other side (the hero’s counterattack). It's boring and insignificant at all) and more like a disaster, yes, this is a disaster movie at all! "Pearl Harbor" actually followed the old path of "Titanic" from beginning to end, and didn't even want to shoot the Pearl Harbor incident as a war. It was filmed as a disaster, so the disaster film The basic elements should be reflected here. First, the disaster should not come too early, it should appear at the end, and then before the disaster, you should try to make the plot calm and calm. It is best to use love to create the atmosphere, and the fierce storm of emotions should be at the same time as the disaster. Coming, a decisive battle of emotions is launched while fighting the disaster. In the end, both wins, and then there is the necessary sacrifice and unquenchable hope to alert the audience and express their emotions.

But I still think that "Pearl Harbor" is not well done, and the biggest flaw is also in the script. But not at the front, but at the back. First of all, the heroine's shaping is not thorough enough, and her thinking has changed. How to look at the lingering clips of the heroine and the male second can also make the audience think that she is in love with the male second. But after the male number one came back, her regretful performance immediately overturned everything in front. She did not fall in love with the male number two, she always loved the male number one. So is the previous lingering still necessary? The half-heartedness of the plot made the heroine who was originally a little different from the tradition rebellious enough. Can't she fall in love with two men at the same time? The mainstream audience said no, so the director forced a female character with a bit of depth back into the track of a traditional vase. At this time, the heroine was already pregnant with the flesh and blood of the man she didn't love, so I guessed that one of the two men must die. Then let them forgive each other in the bombing, say goodbye to each other, and die to die, so that the two lines of disaster and love can be integrated and connected, and they can be decisive. But in order to take care of the mood of mainstream American audiences, we can't just be beaten and not fight back. Although it is the best for us to fight back in the Pearl Harbor incident, Americans dare not tamper with history so openly? So the director had to superfluously add a scene of American revenge after the bombing, and the emotional crisis that should have been resolved during the bombing had to be arranged in a subsequent revenge action to maintain suspense. But at this time, even with the unfinished emotional struggle and the wonderful aerial battle, it is still powerless. After more than 40 minutes of wonderful bombing, the audience is already exhausted and unwilling to appreciate it. At this time, I am looking forward to your end. . It's also wonderful in itself, but the "climax" scene at the end of the bombing can only give people a post-climax feeling, reduced to a tasteless thing.

The nearly three-hour blockbuster "Pearl Harbor" has been watched leisurely. There are some disgusting places, but most of the time I still watch it very deeply, and many places are still very moving. Among them are the fascinating elements of music, the natural performances of actors, and even some careful thinking of the script. But we can't ignore the atmosphere and beauty of photography. Photography in many places is very thoughtful. For example, the lens that slides from a high altitude used on Japanese warships is very simple and beautiful, and full of momentum. When a couple travels in the sky by plane, they can’t help but reminiscent of the classic love in "Out of Africa", where the color of the sky, the camera switching when the plane turns, and the light of the moment are all done, not to mention. The scene scheduling and photography skills during the big bombing were fully utilized. And as Hollywood's specialty art artist is also no less inferior. That kind of upright, clean, gentle clothing that was unique to the 1940s and 50s is so nostalgic in the cold street scene and golden sunlight.

But I think my good impression of "Pearl Harbor" mainly comes from the extremely low expectations of it at the beginning. People are often like this. When you reduce all your desires to the lowest point, you can feel the things that make you happy. A commercial film should be viewed with a secular perspective. It is the best that can be moved, and it can be ignored with a smile. Anyway, it is not expected that it can enter your life and emotions. When we relax, it is our most comfortable time. If you are tired of watching serious movies with heavy thoughts, then you might as well move the simple love and life worldly!

  • Rafe: Earl, I said get some guns in that goddamn tower

Earl: Right, guns in the tower, ten stories high. It's a long son-of-a-bitch

  • Admiral Chester W. Nimitz: So, sir, you would have us mobilize the entire fleet, at the cost of millions of dollars, based on this 'spine-tingling' feeling of yours?

Captain Thurman: No, sir. I understand my job is to gather and interpret material. Making difficult decisions based on incomplete information from my limited decoding ability is your job, sir.
