Hitchcock's classic masterpiece

Was named Hitchcock's most classic work. The protagonist is an innocent advertiser who is chased by terrorist organizations for no reason. This is a scam created by counterintelligence agencies to combat terrorist organizations, using the protagonist as a bait to attract enemies to the bait. In this classic Hitchcock model movie, in fact, the entire character in the film revolves around a non-existent him. A similar situation can also be seen in other Hitchcock films. In the film, the protagonist is often involved in dangerous situations of one kind or another in order to find a secret, and people only discover that this so-called secret doesn't exist after people have been bloodshed for him. This is McGoffin, which can make the rhythm of the film more compact. When the plot is handled properly, only the key objects of the film can be reduced, so that the setting and unfolding of the suspense will not be damaged. And this film illustrates this perfectly. Drunk drifting, a hundred mouths can't argue, the train is infatuated, the road dust, the airplane corn, the woods shawl, the TV leak, the stone figure escapes.

[Replay] Before Capra’s “real” identity was revealed, Siew used his strong artistry to make up for the logic sacrificed for commerciality. The small ingenuity and the big scene are both important, allowing people to voluntarily immerse themselves in this. The scene is so false that it can only exist on the screen.

North by Northwest quotes

  • Phillip Vandamm: Mr. Kaplan, you are quite the performer. First you're the outraged Madison Avenue advertising executive who claims that he has been mistaken for someone else. Next, you play the fugitive from justice supposedly trying to clear himself of a crime he knows he didn't commit. And now, you're the jealous lover spurned by love and betrayal.

Roger Thornhill: Apparently the only performance that will satisfy you is when I play dead.

Phillip Vandamm: Your very next role, and you'll be quite convincing, I assure you.

  • Roger Thornhill: Now, what can a man do with his clothes off for twenty minutes? Couldn't he have taken an hour?

Eve Kendall: You could always take a cold shower.
