The meaning of the rules

I haven't read the original work, and I don't expect any surprises. But all kinds of clichés and dog blood still haven't obliterated the shining part of the movie. If there is no over-interpretation, I would call it human nature.
It is difficult for a conspiracy theorist to believe in human nature, especially a story with an obvious ending. Twenty-four teenagers killed each other, and only one could survive. Anyone who has never read a novel will know that the heroine must win. Because from the beginning, the camera has always been her, her, her sister, her family, her archery, her childhood sweetheart, she is brave, and she is strong. . . Everyone who met her believed in her and liked her. But it doesn't hurt, because everyone can guess that the process of winning must be difficult. But it is necessary to guess how she overcomes these difficulties.
Conspiracy theorists believe that good qualities such as kindness and bravery are definitely not a weapon for victory, but rather weaknesses. Under extreme circumstances, the more brutal and unscrupulous people can survive. Although everyone is unwilling to believe this, the most unwillingness to face it is the fact.
Therefore, when the heroine meets the black little mm, every time a scene of warmth and affection appears, I silently say "Oh, what's the use, what's the use, in the end you will still die (to kill each other)." Although I almost believe that the heroine will not do it, because maybe this child with big eyes reminds her of her sister. But I can't trust the other one, although she guarded her for many days when the heroine mm was in a coma, and put cool leaves on her stinged skin. I was almost moved, and I always thought in my heart that the rule of this game is to kill everyone else and survive by myself. What's the point of you doing this? Every time two people hug, I silently expect Xiao Hei mm's wrist to buckle and a sharp knife. Although it has never happened. . . Until later, when Xiao mm was trapped in the trap, I was also silently saying "This is a trap, don't come to save her... This is a trap..." Later it proved that I was wrong again (how can people have such a gloomy mentality? ...) Until Xiao Hei mm died, the two tears in the corners of my eyes made me deeply doubt myself. . .
It's like suspicion of friendship and similar affection. I think love is also a luxury, and a peaceful environment with food and clothing is a necessary breeding condition, but it is definitely not a survival game like a battle royale. So I can't understand all the opposing scenes of the hero and heroine. Their mutual support will make them the last two to survive, but what's the use? Because only one person can survive in the end, this previous warmth and touching can only lead them to the option of killing each other.
But I was wrong again, wrong in the ending, wrong in the story off the court. gxj tells me why I was wrong: I care too much about the rules. Since the rules can be arbitrarily changed by the game makers, the participants of the game can also choose to abide by or not. Just like in the movie, they use two or zero survivors to despise the rules. If it is extended to the extreme: the twenty-four people who participated in the game are all similar kind rebels, and they have been exiled to the arena. From the moment on, everyone will be non-violent and uncompromising. What should the organizers of the game do? This is the unexpected effect of kindness, this is human nature.
It's a pity, it's a pity that not everyone thinks that way, and not everyone can think of it. This is a rule system wrapped in honor. Someone firmly believes in the principle of kindness, and others enjoy the sense of accomplishment gained through slaughter. Looks strong, looks relatively strong, this is a kind of desire that always exists. Out of the temptation of desire, there will always be bullies, there will always be seemingly unreasonable rules, and there will always be a dark pessimist like me.
But am I wrong again? At the beginning of the movie, the train arrived at the capital. The male protagonist couldn't swell up on his own against the fanatical crowd on the platform. He smiled and waved his hands, as if he were a human being, and the female protagonist mm was unmoved. But at the end of the movie, facing the same scene, the two returned triumphantly, smiling together, and greeted hand in hand. Vanity doesn't make people change, but what about honor? She rebelled against one rule, but there are many kinds of rules. She resisted one temptation, and temptation is everywhere.
The audience applauded everywhere in the movie, two commentators stood on the stage to speak, and the host of the talk show exaggerated expressions, showing a compelling sense of reality everywhere. It is the desire of the audience that gave birth to the cruel rules. If most of them are kind, there won't be this game. But it's a pity that the fact of this game has the opposite result. The space of human nature is squeezed out, and only a little bit, a little bit is left.

The Hunger Games quotes

  • President Snow: [voice over] War, terrible war. Widows, orphans, a motherless child. This was the uprising that rocked our land. Thirteen districts rebelled against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them. Brother turned on brother until nothing remained. And then came the peace, hard fought, sorely won. A people rose up from the ashes and a new era was born. But freedom has a cost. When the traitors were defeated, we swore as a nation we would never know this treason again. And so it was decreed that, each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up, in tribute, one young man and woman to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice. The lone victor, bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness. This is how we remember our past. This is how we safeguard our future.

  • Katniss Everdeen: What was it?

Peeta Mellark: A sword. It's bad, huh?

Katniss Everdeen: It's gonna be fine.

[Katniss tries to tend to his wound]

    Peeta Mellark: Katniss.

[Katniss doesn't reply and just tends to his wound]

    Peeta Mellark: Katniss...

Katniss Everdeen: No! I'm not gonna leave you. I'm not gonna do that.

    Peeta Mellark: Why not?
