Comparing the two versions of Midnight Ring, you can clearly appreciate the difference between Eastern and Western thinking modes: American horror films highlight sound effects, makeup, horror, blood plasma, which are almost all sensory stimulation; Japanese horror films come from atmosphere, expression, darkness, suspense, no Express specific imagery, but mobilize the viewer's imagination. The biggest fear comes from the unknown. In this sense, Japanese horror films are better.

Comparing with the original Japanese version, you can see that there are many different filming concepts between the East and the West.
Dr. Grasnik: She wanted a child more than anything, poor Anna. They tried hard for years, but sometimes it's just not meant to be. Then one winter they went away, when they came back it was with Samara, adopted they said, never said from where; said the mother died of complications. But they had their baby, they had their horses, everything was fine, until Anna started coming to see me. Said she was suffering visions, seeing things, horrible things, like they'd been burned inside her. And it only happened around Samara, like the girl put them there.
Rachel Keller: Were you Samara's doctor too?
Rachel Keller: Was there anything wrong with her?
Dr. Grasnik: You mean medically?
Rachel Keller: I mean whatever you mean.
Noah: [Referring to the tape] Look I'm sorry but I'm not gonna get all hung up on some high schooled rumor.
[Rachel gives him a weird look]
Noah: What are you thinking?
Rachel Keller: I'm thinking this is the part where I tell you that you're a slug who never finishes anything and then you say I'm an obsessive bitch. Then I storm out all pissed off, kicking myself for ever thinking that you could just GROW UP!
