Not a textbook-like literary film

"Alien 3" was directed by David Fincher, who just debuted. The fledgling man probably took over the difficult task of Scott and Cameron before, trying to create his own style and adding a lot of personal content at the same time. "Alien 3" has the tendency of the author's film, or in other words, the literary style. The film created many firsts in the whole series, the first time there was a shooting plot (and it seemed to be of little help to the plot), and the first time there was a religious content (a tendency to overwhelm the host). As a remote planet of the prison, everything is isolated. The prisoner brother said it well: the outside world has nothing to do with us. There are many things about salvation in the frequently appearing prayers. As felony criminals, their abandoned lives are meaningless. What they hope is that they can live their lives in this isolated world and be finally redeemed. The arrival of the alien gave them a chance to redeem themselves in advance.

The director still wanted to shape the characters, but the "Alien" series gave too little space for the characters, or the script of the work was too bad. The roles of these characters are so similar to their destiny, and they die horribly. The most likely role as a doctor, the director also arranged for him to have a fight with the heroine, but after a few conversations about his life experience, he died. Sigourney Weaver became the host of the Alien Queen directly, making the Alien dare not hurt her. I have lost my self-identity of my own species. I believe this is also a topic of discussion by David Fincher, but unfortunately I haven't seen much digging. In order to comply with the religious meaning of redemption, most of the scenes in this film are set on a desolate planet like apocalypse, and in a labyrinth of tunnels, which further weakens the science fiction elements of this work. But the ending of this work coincides with the science fiction masterpiece "Terminator 2". The last mission of the hero who saves mankind is to destroy himself, which is quite tragic.

Like the previous two works, many directors’ personal styles are seen in the film, the most typical being David Fincher’s cross-editing. The warden slowly preached in the cafeteria and the heroine was running fast in the corridor. The sharp contrast made the ant-like sense of rush on the fire greatly increased, and the alien first-person perspective of the fast chasing scenes were counted as the whole film. Not many tensions. Another example is the perspective shot of mental illness opening the warehouse door and slowly walking in the door. It also has a sense of fatalism like humans stealing forbidden fruit. The whole film is in the endless maze tunnels glowing with red light and steaming, and the screams of the victims are constantly echoed in the distance, and the desolation and depression of the last days are also obvious.

Oh, I didn't mention Alien after talking for a long time. In Literary Fan's "Alien 3", it does not have much sense of existence. Remember the cute things from the first two parts? Cat and loli. Yes, the cute creatures in the third part are probably alien brothers. It is known from the name of the characters in the film: some are called F**k face, and some are called kitty.

Alien 3 quotes

  • Andrews: We've 25 prisoners in this facility. All double-Y chromos. All thieves, rapists, murderers, child-molesters... All scum. Just because they have taken on religion doesn't make them any less dangerous. I try not to offend their convictions. I don't want to upset the order. I don't want ripples in the water. And I don't want a woman walking around, giving them ideas...

Ripley: I see. For my own personal safety...

    Andrews: Exactly...

  • Morse: [When Dillon proposes to fight the Alien] When the fuck can't we wait for the company to have some guns on our side? Why - why should we go on a fuckin' suicide run?
