The beginning of the film is successful and fascinating. A period of arrest and escape with a slightly absurd color of Kafka. In the first 40 minutes of the movie, the suspense of the movie focused on who exactly is George Kaplan? His relationship with Thornhill. This idea is successful, and Kaplan has always existed in our hearts. However, in the 41st minute, the CIA explained the absence of Kaplan. The suspense of this film disappeared. Thornhill's escape became meaningless. However, the escape itself still has the appeal to the audience, encountering beauties and having romantic affairs, and even feeling like wandering around the world, the audience's heartstrings have been drawn by the director. Successfully ignored the meaninglessness of the movie. Subsequently, the identity of the woman was exposed, which also explained well the reason why she quickly went to bed with Thornhill. Then Thornhill was framed by the woman and was attacked by the plane. I have to say that this plot has dragged on for too long. Hitchcock seemed to deliberately show the beauty of the environment he photographed, using different angles to present the same scene. But I have to say that although Hitchcock’s movie screens are consistently well-made, in a suspenseful movie, every second cannot be wasted. Creativity is life. The sudden slowdown in the rhythm reduced the effect of the movie. And the part where he finally managed to evade the helicopter was too stupid and certainly not lacking in appeal. But this kind of attraction can be achieved by any TV series. If I was forced to boast, he accidentally fell under the truck with some creativity. Then, the fatal shortcomings of this movie were revealed. It was Thornhill running around meaninglessly. At this time, the movie still has a valuable suspense, whether he will be caught by the police. But even so, it doesn't make sense anymore. Because the movie ignores this point and tells other stories. The movie has become a headless case, and the lack of suspense makes the movie long and meaningless. Fortunately, at this moment, Hitchcock made the woman appear again. This shows that the director is already in a bad position, because Kando is unlikely to appear here, why should she stay in the same hotel as Kaplan. Even if she knew Thornhill might be dead. And there has been a logical error in this movie. If Kanter calls Kaplan, it confirms Kanter knows that Thornhill is not Kaplan, then why did she tell the criminal gang to kill Thornhill, and why she didn't tell the truth. Then the black and humorous auction scene became the driving force for the film to revive, but the effect was limited. Then there is a necessary but unobtrusive explanation, the same as in the 40th minute of the movie. But women turned out to be spies, and this fact gave the movie a new impetus. but It is absurd that Thornhill cooperated and participated in the operation. How could he not know that Kando would go abroad with the criminal gang. Here is another flaw in the director. Feign death is wonderful. The next step is full of flaws. Thornhill escaped from the hospital just like that. The rescue process was attractive, but the pace was still too slow. The nanny’s fake pistol is wonderfully used to explain the future with elements that are obvious in the past but overlooked by the audience. This is the most clever way of explaining the movie. The whole escape process was too long and boring, and finally saved the dog's blood, let alone. The fatal flaw of this movie is that the suspense is too weak. This comes from the director's over-interpretation, which has weakened the movie's excitement. I once imagined that the 40-minute explanation could be deleted, but the plot behind it was too messy to be continuous. The film failed irretrievably. PS: Hitchcock's black humor and love are wonderful because of the lack of suspense. Some details of the ethical conflicts are well grasped. For example, when the criminal leader learns that Kanter is a fake, he still punches another person. The psychology is worthy of scrutiny.
