Speaking of failed sequels in film history, "Alien 3" is always mentioned. After watching this movie in person, I can finally understand the reason. If you watch this movie alone, it may be a mid-level thriller, but in front of the first two movies that are either suspenseful or exciting, watching this movie again feels like a panic.
To me, this movie shouldn't exist at all.
Because it completely destroyed my feeling of the aftermath of the end of "Alien 2", the strong female warrior Ripley and the girl ash, in the most impossible dilemma, bravely faced the aftermath of the alien queen's escape. It makes the hard-won ending of Alien 2 look like a black humor that can't be laughed out of.
There may be many problems with the film’s technical level, logical structure, etc., but they are not the most fatal problem. The most unforgivable point is that it completely deviates from the spirit and philosophy of the first two hard work-no matter what the aliens are. Horrible, human efforts will always make a difference in the end. So when "Alien 3" began, the spacecraft fell into an alien, the little girl from the previous movie, and the Marine Corps captain who obviously had a plot development with the heroine, immediately died. Only the heroine survived and shaved her head. Facing the new round of horror in a more old-fashioned manner, I immediately felt that I was thrown into cold water. All the efforts of the previous part, the ending in exchange for it was completely shattered at the beginning of this part, what is this?
Aside from this, other aspects of the movie are also very disappointing.
First of all, this movie has completely lost the atmosphere and sci-fi texture of the first two carefully created. The entire scene of the film seems to have only closed mines and endless passages, without the first two biochemical people, high-tech weapons, and tracking. There are no weapons, spaceships, nuclear bombs... Except for alien creatures, there is no such thing as a sci-fi masterpiece. It is like a low-cost B-level film.
Second, the portrayal of the characters in this movie is irritating. A stubborn and conservative warden, a doctor with a sad past, the prisoner who was originally a prisoner who was calmed down by religion and was disturbed by the heroine... These characters were portrayed with their own characteristics at the beginning, but what happened later? There is only one fate for everyone, that is, being dragged away by the alien suddenly and killing instantly, even the process of struggling is the same without exception. The fate of the same destination by different routes makes people feel no surprise about their deaths, only the sigh of "Oh, another person died". I really don’t know what the director’s installation of these seem to be very dramatic, but all the roles are to guide the passers-by, A, B, and C. What does it mean?
Third, the alien itself. To be honest, apart from the fact that it is more important than the previous two pictures, the alien reality of this film is not at all shocking. Basically, what the aliens do in this film is to hide in the dark, or hide behind others and suddenly pop out to drag people away. This kind of bridge is really overused in various horror movies, and there is no sense of horror at all. And the plastic-like alien CG modeling, from the current point of view, I only think it is too naive. Don’t say I’m too demanding, it’s an old movie or something... It was released a year earlier than this movie. The mercury robot in "Terminator 2" still amazes me even if I look at it now.
In the first hour, the alien form was looming and everyone didn't believe in the existence of monsters. If it was the first one, it might be quite appetizing. But this is already the third one! Still playing this mystery that everyone knows is really unreasonable. Such a hanging appetite will only make people feel lengthy. And after watching the second shocking robot vs. Alien Queen, the entire "Alien 3" has only one small alien jumping up and down, which can kill dozens of people without any backhand strength. This contrast will make me have After eating the delicacies of the mountains and the sea, you will feel the loss of eating steamed buns and pickles. The director’s deliberately portrayed first-person perspective is also completely unable to reflect the alien’s sense of speed and tension. Therefore, the alien form of this movie did not bring me any surprises at all.
Having said that, what are the highlights of this movie? I admit that when I saw the scene where Ripley fell into the fire with an alien at the end, I was slightly moved. Compared with the procrastinating foreplay, this ending is indeed a wonderful one. The premise is that before I watched "Terminator 2," I mentioned that the production time of Terminator 2 was a year earlier than Alien 2, so I don’t doubt that the end of "Alien 3" is in the end of (chao) Jian ( xi) In Terminator 2, the timeless classic ending of T800 with a thumbs up. In this comparison, do you still feel that Ripley's death is moved by the end of "Alien 3"?
In addition, as mentioned earlier, I don't admit that this is the ending that the first two lieutenant Ripley deserves. Even if the process is very tragic, I will not admit it.
Because this movie is incompatible with the previous two, it is a sequel that shouldn't exist.
