Shakespeare's Queen

I have always wanted to watch this film, mainly because I was attracted by such a connotative dark queen. Many well-known issues of the film will no longer be discussed. I just want to talk about a few of my impressions.

Let me add some background information first, which will help you understand my thoughts.

Snow White is one of the few stories in Grimm's fairy tales that does not originate from Central Europe or Germany, and it is also one of the more controversial stories. Before entering the ears of Brothers Grimm, she was already the famous so-called "hearth story" at the time. Her origin may have been untestable at the time, but there are still some clues passed down. In short, she is very old and very gloomy.

It is said that after hearing this story, William Green, who was older than the accident, would be silent. Although it was revised several times, she was finally added to the story collection. And later said with emotion: It seems to be as frustrating as losing the sense of taste... But these stories are really interesting. (In fact, there are a few articles such as Sleeping Beauty, so

I won't talk about it here.) I think the screenwriters of Rupert Sanders must have done a lot of work, because the plot alone is more in line with some basic points of view.

I don’t know what the story Green heard at the time was like, but as far as I know, Snow White’s story has the following mainstream views (excluding the BT version of a certain island country girl):

1. The story system of the Knights of the Round Table One, there is no king in the story, only the knight and the queen. The two were lovers at first, but the knight ate the queen's body in the end.

2. Celtic legend (not the Celtic of Ireland), the queen and the princess are the same person (schizophrenia?). The prince assassinated the queen to save the princess, but found out the truth and committed suicide. It should be noted that the experience of this queen is almost the same as that in the film, and there is a famous part of talking to the mirror.

3. Hum...The black hair is like ink, the white skin wins the snow, the red lips are crimson...What do you think of? Yes, this view comes from Eastern European legends, but the pros and cons are greatly shifted, and the princess's soul sacrifice becomes similar The monster of Vampire, the queen killed her relatives righteously for well-known reasons, and withdrew her blessings to destroy the princess. There are flower thorns and blood drops here, as well as the famous birth blessing. In addition, this standard is not a beauty in medieval Europe.

There are several more, so I won’t talk about it. If you’re interested, you can check things like medieval folklore.

In fact, the Green Storybook contains too much occult content and socio-political background. It has always been a children's storybook for adults.

Going back to the film itself, this film is really untimely. If you come out before the Lord of the Rings, and then change to a princess (for example: Anne Hathaway's White Queen), the queen will play a little more, preferably with a biographical character, then entering the ten-year classic should not be a problem.

Moreover, the film also has many flaws. In addition to what has been mentioned in various posts, there are also problems with the background. The styles of palaces and castles and the clothing of the characters, especially the Queen’s Gothic style, can’t be integrated, and they have reduced the color of the great Queen a lot. But because the Gothic culture is a product built by the barbarian kingdom to reduce the fear and anxiety caused by looting and killing, this seems to be a more appropriate design. Of course, the cultural background has always been the fault of Hollywood movies, and it is understandable as a commercial film. I doubt the old design used to save costs, but the director seems to be a commercial, so it makes no sense.

There is also the muddy of some pro-criticism roads and the roughness of Brother Hammer. This is really no problem, because until the age of the great voyage, European society and the life of the people at the bottom have always been like this. If it is a European movie, I am afraid it is still Be a little bit behind.

I have to talk about the queen. I can’t know what Charlize Theron thinks, but she did a great deal of effort in acting in a commercial film. Movies originate from dramas. Some people are not so good when they use movies as skits... It may be an illusion. I personally think that her performance in this film is the best in her recent films, perhaps because the drama has become more sophisticated. Bar.

Aside from the topic, the two heroines of the devil head are now embarking on the path of magic. Is there any commonality? I

always feel that the director is inadequate and can't control this theme, and wasted a good book. .

Another big flaw is the mirror.

The importance of the mirror in this story is no less than the Supreme Lord of the Rings in the Lord of the Rings. As a result, not only is there less drama, it is also very simple. Could it be that funding is so tight? You must know that the importance of mirrors in ancient Europe is like the tripod of ancient China, especially such large-format ones, even in ancient Greece.

But after thinking about it, the director should have his own ideas.

In the eyes of the queen’s brothers, the queen who was talking to Jing Ling was actually facing a piece of air, and then turned back to the queen when she was dying, struggling to get close to the mirror, and she temporarily recovered because of absorbing the spirit of many girls. She lost her beauty and stared at the blurred shadow scene in the mirror. Suddenly I felt that in fact the poorest person in the whole film was the queen. She had become a slave to the mirror and her own beauty. It now appears that the so-called destruction and salvation in the sonnet is probably not just as simple as getting the princess’s heart to keep her beautiful forever. The queen is hopeless, only to be destroyed can he be saved. The simpler the mirror, the more contrast it is, and the more it can highlight the tragic effect. It would be even more perfect if there is a history of the mirror in the film. The last sentence the princess said to the queen: You can't have my heart is actually the most severe sentence, but unfortunately it was turned into hospice care by the princess...

Some people think that the queen's love for the baby princess before the wedding is a kind of hypocrisy. But from some later clips, it can be seen that this is actually because she saw her own shadow in the princess, because she knows the ending of this little girl who resembles her, so this should be a natural expression of emotion. So that later she let the princess go without killing her. Or because of the causal influence of destiny, but who can say that there is no trace of compassion? I have never thought that the queen is a very evil person. After she killed the king, there was no sorrow or joy, some just Tiredness and numbness after work. At least in her opinion, she just wants to survive, to keep the power and its concentrated expression-beauty. But on the way to the wedding altar, the queen looked back at the young princess again and again when everyone praised her beauty, suspecting that the princess was more beautiful than her. Her lack of self-confidence is undoubtedly manifested. After contacting the obsessive-compulsive disorder, we repeatedly asked the mirror who is more beautiful, and we can see the queen's sickness. The queen may have her reasons, because beauty is a more powerful force than spells, and if it is lost, she cannot survive. But there should be a more essential reason, that is, except for her beauty, she has no existential value. If she loses her beauty, she will lose everything. It can even be said that beauty is the only connection between her and the world. That's why she will save her beauty at all costs, and finally walks on the path of self-destruction. It seems that the princess killed the queen, but when the queen's mother showed her the way in life, all this was already doomed, and her mother sentenced her to death. If there is a so-called fate, then this is the fate of the queen.

Starting with three drops of blood and ending with three drops of blood, a typical Greek tragedy.

Seriously suspect that the queen is the real protagonist, seriously suspect that the main line of the script is the queen rather than the princess...

Also, the atmosphere of the whole film seems to be too sunny, and this is a rather gloomy story, at least comparable to Macbeth, at least It should be the level of Camelot, privately speaking, this kind of subject matter is not good for Hollywood.

And the director seems to try his best to get closer to Narnia and even Avatar, but I don't think this kind of effort is really successful. Some previous posts believed that the director of the film was suspected of cloning the Lord of the Rings, or so, but even so, I am afraid it was a failure. The essence of the Lord of the Rings should not be the grand scenes and tortuous plots, but the gloomy atmosphere that runs through everywhere. As a commenter said: You can never imagine that Narnia's story will take place in the world of the Lord of the Rings. But I think that Snow White's story will do. There are many reasons, but there is really no winner in the two main stories.

Let's talk about the queen again. In fact, the structure of this film is still very flat, so Charlize Theron basically has no place to play. But she still interprets the complex image of a dark queen very well, and I can even say that she is the only person who meets the requirements of the storyline in the whole film. The so-called strong aura, in fact, I think it is a sense of harmony formed by fully integrating with the whole story. Charlize Theron was originally the kind of person who is very good at cooperating with the plot to develop together, and coupled with the foundation of the film queen, this level is due. She doesn't necessarily take this role too seriously, but she has played a normal level, which is enough for a commercial film. From the holy wedding in the hall, to the hard crawl in the blood. From the hesitation and hesitation of talking with the mirror, to the ever-present masochistic memories of the past, from the seeming indifferent indifference in the face of the common people, to the reluctance of the mirror, the symbol of power behind beauty before death... The conflict of human nature and the complex opposition of light and dark can almost be used as a citation in film theory classes. It can be seen that the scene with her appearance and the rest can be completely divided into two completely different films. But at least I didn't find anything inappropriate about this type of fault.

But ah, the director of this film is really suspected of wasting. There are people of this level participating in the performance, but the other parts of the cooperation are very poor. For example, the Queen’s brother, a man who is said to have spent several lives and conquered countless countries, should become an old fox no matter how stupid he is. Even if it is based on nepotism, it shouldn't be played around by a princess who is almost isolated from the world and grew up like a wolf child. In this context, it should be impossible to have such brothers. Not to mention the mirror, as long as you watch the queen doing a show, it's enough to stand in the fire. It is said that the original queen's revenge is the princess's father and her cousin; and the queen and her brothers will grow old because they made a deal with the Dark Forest. Rupert Sanders later changed it to this way for the cost and the pure image of the princess. If this is the case, then we can at least know the reason why Charlize Theron took this film. The dark version of Prince's Revenge, tears running...

For Kristen Stewart, I think that since the stunning appearance in The Messenger, it has been going downhill, and it is now at a normal level. She may be suitable for other characters, but it is definitely not suitable for Snow White, nor is it suitable for this film. She seemed so incompatible with everything around her, and the only thing she could do was probably the one she passed out in the dark forest. Personally, she is actually a victim of the director. In the film, it is explained that the queen's mother let the queen conquer the world with her external beauty, and the princess's mother told her that only inner beauty can last. The beauty of the queen is already like this. If this princess If you are not the woman in the Assumption Picture, you can't suppress this kind of aura. But it is obvious that she does not have this temperament. If you think about it, it might be more appropriate to change the title to Maid's Revenge.

As for the others, since the protagonist of this film is not prominent, they are considered to be a dragon set.

I don’t know why, maybe it was caused by Hammer. When I saw the Queen’s wedding and the duel with the Queen Princess, it reminded me of Kristanna Loken’s version of Iceland Queen Brynhild...

In general, I think that from all the signs, this film may have a great script, but it's a pity that the director didn't have a good grasp of it. But this is also commonplace in Hollywood, such as Deep Rising. As a famous film director said: Go to the basement and have a look, there are at least hundreds of figurines hidden there.

Forget it, let's not talk about it, my heart is a little confused, and I have coded some things that I don't understand.

PS: The custom of making a wish with blood in the film exists, but it is not three drops.

PS: The classic dialogue of the Queen Asking the Mirror is believed to be the same as the legend of the Bloody Mary. If there is such a shadow, please don’t try it randomly. Who knows if it will be a string...
