People and people

Two kids: Stanley and the black kids are very smart, but behave differently. Stanley has read many books and is super smart. He is the only leader in the intellectual competition with adults, and his performance is extraordinary. Black children have limited education, but their financial business is good, and they are bent on making money. At a young age, he had the guts to trade with adults. He and the policeman Jim had a few minutes of conversation and sold Jim three things: clues, candy, and talent. Black kids are independent every time they appear, and Stanley is always accompanied by his father before he disappoints him.

Two juvenile geniuses: These two juvenile geniuses, one Stanley at the time, this title is a thing of the past for the other (Donnie). Donnie, who was once famous for a while, entered middle-aged life, was impoverished, jobless, and love not close to expectations. Compared with the former glory, Donnie is useless now. Comparing the two together, one can't help but ask, will Stanley...?

Two old men: Jimmy and Earl. Both of them had cancer and were dying, both had betrayed their wives, and both had irreparable rifts with their children. The difference is that Jimmy took the initiative to confess to his wife and took the initiative to face his daughter. He was not forgiven. He chose to commit suicide. Lily, Earl's ex-wife, knew her husband's past, and her tolerance made Earl feel guilty to death. The current wife Linda felt guilty for betrayal before Earl was dying. She tried every means to find salvation: change her will, get analgesics, and go hysterical. In the end, she chose to leave her husband outside the house.

Earl's two wives: The names of the two wives both begin with L, and yin and yang are separated. The ex-wife Lily knew nothing about her husband’s betrayal, she chose to forgive; the other was a far cry from Earl’s age, and her marriage chosen because of money made her betray her husband constantly, but before her husband’s death, she realized love and kept conscious of love. Searching for self-salvation, and finally choosing self-understanding, although unsuccessful.

The children of two old men: a man and a woman, Frank and Claudia. Frank is always facing the camera before meeting his father. Frank, who went into a mad state facing the camera and lost no time in promoting himself, had an injured and unbearable childhood. The reporter's questioning uncovered his memory scars. He thought that by changing his name and surname, he could forget his unfortunate childhood and deny the existence of his father. Ignoring this past is just avoiding. When Phil told him about Earl's condition, he stopped running away. Facing his dying father, he is no longer the seemingly confident and maddened salesman and performer. He is just a child who hopes to be loved by his father.
The relationship between Claudia and her father is unresolved. Even Jimmy didn't know if that "touch" happened. Claudia, who lost her father's love, also lost her mother's love. Without family warmth and stable love, Claudia gave up herself and became friends with white powder.
Frank and Claudia have very different attitudes towards the opposite sex, and the same is that their inner anger has been growing. Scolding his father to harm his mother naturally modified his language, and Claudia used the same way to make the police boyfriend surprised. Frank is chauvinistic, at least when facing the camera. Shows a strong desire to control the opposite sex. Claudia was very angry when he saw his father, but he was very obedient to the police. The sudden fall of love made her feel at a loss, she dressed up, but lost her life. Faced with love again, she is naked, can she be tolerated?

Two men injured for love: Jim and Donnie met near the end of the movie. They have their own hearts. The difference is that Jim has the right to choose, depending on whether he chooses to tolerate Claudia. Donnie fell in love with the same sex, but he didn't love him, he had no choice.

Two people committed suicide: Jimmy and Linda. One man and one woman. Jimmy was not forgiven, Linda did not forgive herself.

  • Narrator: And there is the account of the hanging of three men, and a scuba diver, and a suicide. There are stories of coincidence and chance, of intersections and strange things told, and which is which and who only knows? And we generally say, "Well, if that was in a movie, I wouldn't believe it." Someone's so-and-so met someone else's so-and-so and so on. And it is in the humble opinion of this narrator that strange things happen all the time. And so it goes, and so it goes. And the book says, "We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us."
