In fact, this is a very simple story, but after Christopher Nolan's hands it becomes very exciting. The first half of the film focuses on the investigation of the murderer, while the second half has evolved into a speculation about the murderer's motives. Although the rhythm of this old-fashioned suspense seems to be a bit slow now, the director's handling is quite sophisticated. According to the general approach, this dark theme story should take place under the same dark scene, but the use of extremely bright scenes to create sharp contrasts makes the story full of dramatic conflicts with strong contrasts.
Needless to say, Al Pacino's performance is quite real. Especially Lao Pa's aura is so strong that it is impossible to have a second protagonist next to him. As a result, Robin Williams, who was originally not suitable for the role of a murderer, is even more funny and unreliable.
