Many people think that Nick is the most to be killed. Individuals can't agree.

The protagonist’s desire for revenge was released after dismembering the main criminal. All subsequent actions stemmed from the anger and hatred of the old and full of loopholes in the judicial system and in order to achieve more far-reaching goals...

He did not hesitate to spend 10 years planning revenge while planning. The plan, while studying and studying the judicial system, allows him to talk with Nick in the confession room without leaving any loopholes, and even become his own defense lawyer. He had already understood that Nick was not on the side of evil as he saw. But he knew that in the face of the dilapidated judicial system, although Nick knew the facts and truth in his heart, he did not dare to take risks. In the end, he chose to compromise between the closing rate and justice.

The protagonist also knows that he cannot subvert the entire system on his own, so he chooses to personally shape a person who can defend justice. Nick used to be not, but he knew that Nick wanted to do so. This is why he wanted to kill the judge, why he wanted to kill the chief prosecutor under the mayor. In this way, Nick can logically rise to a higher level in politics and achieve a certain dominant position in the judiciary. He made deals with Nick again and again, just to make Nick realize that trading with criminals would only make tragedies happen again and again.

Killing innocent people is not what the protagonist wants. But angry and desperate, he extremely believed that a series of blood lessons must be used to lead the prosecutor named Nick on the path of real justice. In the film, if I remember correctly, the protagonist showed a deep sense of guilt after killing at least twice.

As mentioned above, if the protagonist only wants simple revenge, he does not need such a long time to plan. With his ability, he does not even need to enter prison, so that the police can wait for him to be tried one by one without evidence. Those whom he considers guilty. But why did he choose to implement such a huge plan centered on Nick? If he sees Nick as the criminal's accomplice, why not put Nick in the first few steps of the plan and kill him?

Yes, the protagonist is waiting for Nick's last sentence, "I won't trade with the murderer again."

So that when he finally saw the bomb he made, he was not too surprised, not too afraid, but only confession and relief. He has long reported his determination to die, and only hopes that there can be an upright prosecutor to stand up and defend justice.

The ending is perfect. After the death of the protagonist’s wife and children, he is left with despair and hatred in the world, but with his own death, the people’s hope for justice is obtained...

Good actor, good script, good director ...Very good movie!

Think deeply, don’t just be blinded by revenge to understand.
Also, personally guess that the last email was sent by him himself.

Law Abiding Citizen quotes

  • Clyde Shelton: [Surprised to see Nick in his cell] I wasn't expecting company. Yeah, I would have -- I would have cleaned up a little.

Nick Rice: Never seen anybody tunnel into prison before. And the solitary confinement? That was clever.

Clyde Shelton: Well, that's how winners play. We "convince" the other guy that he's making all the right moves. So, did you ever catch my accomplice?

Nick Rice: Yeah, I did. It's the end of the road for you now. You played us, Clyde. You played us real good.

Clyde Shelton: Thank you. You know, I'm glad you finally get to appreciate some of the effort that I put into all of this.

Nick Rice: Well, you set out to make a point, Clyde. You made it.

Clyde Shelton: No, people still don't get it. They don't appreciate what I'm trying to say, Nick, but they will soon enough.

Nick Rice: A man I cared about once told me that we can't retract the decisions that we've made, we can only affect the decisions we're going to make from here.

Clyde Shelton: Are you trying to save me now, Nick?

Nick Rice: I'm giving you a way out. Big difference. Stand up for those principles you've been preaching. See, we're all held accountable, Clyde. That includes you. Why don't we do the right thing here?

Clyde Shelton: I'm doing the right thing, Nick. You just have to see it that way.

Nick Rice: By murdering all those people, all you're doing is destroying the memory of your daughter and causing the same pain that you're suffering from.

Clyde Shelton: So what do you suggest, Nick? Make another deal? One final offer? Is that what it is?

Nick Rice: I don't make deals with murderers anymore, Clyde. You taught me that.

Clyde Shelton: [scoffs] Finally. Well done. Bravo. Maybe I wasn't such a bad teacher after all.

Nick Rice: If you go through with this, Clyde, it's a decision you'll have to live with for the rest of your life.

  • Nick Rice: [Tasting his daughter's French toast] It's very good, you cook better than your mother.

Kelly Rice: [Upon entering the kitchen from another room] I heard that! Are you going to our daughter's recital this afternoon?

Nick Rice: I thought you were going to order the DVD.

Kelly Rice: That's not the same.

Denise Rice: [to Kelly] It's okay, I know Dad's got to work.

Nick Rice: That's right! Dad's got to work. And what does Dad do during the day?

Denise Rice: Lock up bad guys!

Nick Rice: And why does he do that?

Denise Rice: To keep us safe.
