Freedom is war again and again

In order to avoid war, human beings degenerate into animals, and in order to gain freedom, human beings wage wars.

CCTV Science and Education Channel once ran a program about animals. In the program, I saw a gorilla who had been kept in captivity for a long time and had lost nurturing skills when he touched his child through a glass cover. I was shocked. On the head, caressed again and again, and even stretched out the index finger to pick up the chin of the little orangutan, as if a mother was making fun of her child. In fact, I know the similarities between orangutans and humans, but I didn't expect to imagine it like that. My shock stems from a simple ignorance. I don't believe that animals have human emotions. It seems that the reason why humans are different from animals is precisely because humans have a unique ability, which is emotion.

The movie "The Torn Doom" just confirmed part of my imagination. The basic element of constructing a world without war is to extract all human emotions. Anger, jealousy, and desire are the direct causes of war. Animals do not have meaningless wars. Their attacks are divided into two types, one for survival and the other for reproduction. This is the case with the world without emotion. In "The Torn Doom", everyone injects himself with a potion every day to remove all his emotions, and the headed priest trains a group of "priests" with special skills to eliminate all emotional criminals for him. So the world maintains a kind of superficial peace. All people wear the same clothes and use the same goods to eliminate injustice. The gray houses, black clothes, and white cars are free from all external stimuli that can cause emotional changes. The priest’s mission has been broadcast on the big screens everywhere, brainwashing people to believe in the correctness of slavery. The windows of the house are covered with an opaque film. You can't see the sunrise or sunset, rain and sun, everything looks lifeless and orderly. This is almost a replica of Orwell’s "Nineteen Eighty Four". The attack is for a greater peace, and war is peace; fleeing from war means gaining freedom, and fleeing from war means full control and centralized rule. , Without emotion, freedom is enslavement; after removing emotion, only monotonous movement of equipment, the purpose of survival is to complete the task, breathing is a pendulum, and ignorance is power.

Someone once told me that promoting human development is two things, one is war and the other is sex. In my opinion, everything that does not meet the basic human desires will eventually not exist in the world. What is war? Perhaps it is a game provoked by a small group of people because of their own desires. And where does this desire come from? Because of women, the establishment of status or the occupation of the territory? All this has nothing to do with basic survival and reproduction. When human beings withdraw all emotions, human beings can be like animals and stop asking for everything beyond what they need, including sex. Freud once said that except for sexual acts for reproduction, the rest are all perverted sexual acts. And this kind of sexual perversion seems to be peculiar to humans. When all human emotions including sexual desire are deprived, women no longer need the existence of beauty, men no longer need the worship of women, in the season suitable for mating, instinctively find a genetically complementary person to have sex, then the world is peaceful and there is no The war is over.

The creation of a peaceful world is based on slavery, and the seizure of freedom is precisely the innate nature of all creatures. To paraphrase a sentence from "Nineteen Eighty Four", "When they do not realize they will not rebel; if they do not rebel, they will not be conscious." No system in any society can get rid of rebellion, let alone an obliterated one. In the emotional world. Human beings often violate the laws governing the benign operation of the world when doing things for themselves. Therefore, there will be an organization in "Torn Doom" that is planning to overthrow the existing system for a long time. When a society is perfect, the people will gradually decline due to the inability to make progress. When a society is imperfect, there will always be people who resist. This is a natural law that does not allow humans to change privately. What "Torn Doom" shatters is precisely an ideal utopia. Utopia cannot be the end point that can be reached in any historical stage, but a goal, and it is in eternal construction.

The maintenance of peace is not based on centralization and slavery. When human beings are deprived of all emotions in order to avoid war, there are always people who will provoke a new round of war for freedom, just like the girdle of the new version of "Nineteen Eighty Four" The sentence above-"One more person to watch Orwell, one more guarantee of freedom". Human desires cannot be completely suppressed and eliminated. After all, the freedom and peace we desire are impossible to achieve. Humans can only make continuous progress in turbulence, because even animals have to constantly attack for survival. What's more, people cannot get rid of all excess desires like animals.

Equilibrium quotes

  • John Preston: When we return from the Nether it always reminds me of why we do what we do.

    Partridge: It does?

John Preston: [pauses; He takes notice of Partridge's intonation] I beg your pardon?

Partridge: [Withdraws Prozium-administering device from his pocket and injects himself with it] It does.

  • Polygraph Technician: This is a control question, a riddle really. How would you say would be the easiest way to take a weapon away from a Grammaton Cleric?

Brandt: [speaks into Preston's ear] You ask him for it.
