Professional and good-looking sniper film

This movie is a typical blockbuster action movie. The plot is tense, but the setting of suspense is not as good as in the "Bourne Spy" series. The conspiracy planners are all exposed in the first half of the film. A history of warfare with superb skills showing off his talents, justice and gratitude.

Director Antoine Fuqua has shot many blockbusters, "Training Day" and "Tears of the Sun" are his well-known works. Compared with the strong idealism revealed in "Tears of the Sun", the film Fuqua has "contracted". The edge of the film is directed at the dark side of the US regime, and it is a direct and ironic disclosure for those senators and parliamentarians who are honest and decent. Although most of the facts in the film are fiction, shadows can be found in reality. The United States may not dare to slaughter 400 villagers for an oil pipeline, but if you think about the reasons for the war in Iraq, the United States has actually done "bigger business."

But in the final analysis, the plot and depth of thought are not the highlight of this film. There are two biggest highlights of this film-weapons and sniper warfare. Weapons and equipment can be described as diverse, feasting the eyes of military fans. At the beginning, the protagonist Swag used the U.S. Marine Corps M40A3 sniper rifle to show off his power. After the observer was shot and killed by the enemy and became an abandoned son of the US government, the protagonist fought alone in Ethiopia, annihilating 70% of the enemy's strength and then retreating. In this battle, the protagonist also used a powerful anti-material rifle Beretta M82, which broke the helicopter propeller shaft with one shot, cattle! In most of the subsequent battles, the Remington 700 rifle used by the protagonist is also superb. Although there are not many times for sniping, the battle against 24 mercenaries is very exciting. The last snow sniper is the most enjoyable sniper battle. The film’s tactics and equipment are directed by Patrick Garrity, a former U.S. Marine Corps retired sniper, so the film is very professional in sniper tactics (although it is inevitable that there are exaggerations).

Many people couldn’t understand the snow sniper. I will just talk about my personal opinions:
1. Nick was released as a bait. This should not be disputed.
2. Regarding the shot that Nick shot, there are two theories, one is that it was shot by Swag, and the other is that it was shot by the enemy. Those who support the first statement claimed that because Swag had negotiated in advance and let him shoot the first shot, so Nick risked putting the steel plate on his body as a bait. If Swag did not shoot first, then shoot. It will be the enemy's three snipers, and Nick's life cannot be guaranteed. However, there is a serious flaw in this statement, that is, if Swag fires the first shot, his gunshot will reveal his position, and his move to release Nick as a bait is meaningless. The reason why he used Nick as a decoy was to lure the opposing sniper to shoot first, and then he found the first sniper through the sound of gunfire. Also, in the movie, Nick was shot and fell down. At this time, the camera turned to the shooting person who was pulling the bolt. This person was wearing a white mask and no hat. Later, the camera switched to the protagonist, who was wearing a white hat. So this shot was definitely fired by Swag, and the person who shot the shot exposed his position, and was subsequently killed by Swag. Swag's shot had revealed the location, but because the camouflage was so good, the third sniper who was in charge of observing the enemy did not find it.
3. After Swag killed the first sniper, according to the plan, Nick continued to get up and walk forward. At this time, the first sniper was dead, and the enemy's second sniper had to be dispatched and aimed at Nick's head at close range. However, the sniper was in a bad position. In front of Swag, he moved his body while aiming. Swag found him and Swag shot and killed the second sniper.
4. The third sniper had discovered the position of Swag, but the reflection of the telescope made Swag also found the position of the sniper, and Swag rushed to kill him in front of the opponent.

In general, although the film "only" costs 60 million U.S. dollars, it is much better than a film called "epic blockbuster" with an investment of 75 million U.S. dollars. At least, from the perspective of a military fan.

Shooter quotes

  • Nick Memphis: [sips coffee, chokes, coughs]

    Mr. Rate: [smiling] Good coffee?

    Nick Memphis: Yeah.

  • Mr. Rate: Would've been a bad job to take, though.

    Nick Memphis: How come?

Mr. Rate: Whoever took that shot's probably dead now. That's how conspiracy works. Them boys on the grassy knoll, they were dead within three hours. Buried in the damn desert. Unmarked graves out past Terlingua.

Nick Memphis: And you know this for a fact?

Mr. Rate: Still got the shovel!
