You will always be my heroes

[There are some spoilers, please read selectively]

The thing I miss most is that when I was in the 6th grade of elementary school, I received Star Sports at home. Because the satellite TV sports station will play American professional wrestling-WWF every Thursday at 10 pm! ! ! To take a word, it was not called WWE at that time.

At that time, every Thursday, as long as it was 10 o'clock, regardless of whether the homework was done or not, I would wait by the TV on time and watch professional wrestling intently. Although I can’t understand the plot and spell out the names of the players, I can still say their names in a gourd style: "Get RUA Ke" (The Rock, who later went to Hollywood to develop), "Gallery" (Too Cool, I still remember that there was a Skard Tukhali in it...), "RUA Kaixu" (Rikishi, a Samoan American who plays a sumo wrestler), "Four buckles" (Stone Cold), "Triple H" (Triple H), "Undertaker" (Undertaker)... a lot of them, all came to my mind one by one.

The happiest moment? 1. I bought WWF PS2 game discs at the game pirated disc shop that year. 2. The school organized a spring outing on Friday in a certain year. There was no homework on Thursday night. I kept watching WWF, but I didn’t see it because of the power outage during the 11-odd night. When I went to bed and went to bed, the electricity came again... 3. Summer vacation, refrigerated Iced Coke in my parents’ room, watching WWF in bed in my parents’ room...

These are all fond memories that I brought to me when I watched wrestling in my childhood. Later, I grew up and experienced the WCW era and WWE era, but after the WWE era, the enthusiasm for wrestling gradually became cold. It is no longer as passionate as when I was a child.

In 2006, it was learned that Chris Benoit chose to commit suicide after killing his two children and his wife. In 2008, he learned that Perry Saturn had not been renewed by WWE and then moved to various independent minor leagues, and then mysteriously disappeared. In 2009, I learned that Mad Dog Mike Bell chose to commit suicide... All this makes me feel unbearable. Are these people the heroes of my childhood? No, they are not the wrestling heroes of my childhood, but a memory of my childhood. I feel that they are strong and resistant in the wrestling arena, and they are uneasy and weak in real life. They can fight to the last moment on the wrestling stage, but they can’t stick to the road of life...

Darren Aronofsky The Wrestler (The Wrestler) is the best movie I have seen so far in 2009. I will define two words for it: God made.

At the beginning of the film, I was caught off guard by a large number of hand-held cameras, jumpers, and excessive soundless bridges, because in my imagination, Wrestling King should be a very Hollywood movie. That is not quite right. It should be said that it is a movie. A very technically neat film, a smooth shot, a usual but meaningful composition...it is like Lichun's neatness. It was just unexpected that Darren Aronofsky used his agitated way of expression to tell a gentle human tragedy.

Darren Aronofsky discarded Steadicam as the "standard in Hollywood" and used a lot of handheld follow-up. At the same time, the most impressive thing was that when Randy was looking at the surgical wound on his chest, the camera was pushed up. This is a modern movie. A rarely used zoom lens, and it is an unmodified zoom lens. It is the same as when you are shooting home videos. It is the same as in documentaries and newsreels. It is widely used in films in the 1970s and 1980s. The same. This undoubtedly shows that the director has made the audience act as a pale and incomparably worried bystander, just like a documentary, all feelings are real. Such a treatment method was unexpected when I watched this film. From the effect point of view, it is also surprisingly ideal. It gets rid of many of the so-called standard models ingrained in Hollywood films, and creates an anti-Hollywood model film in the Hollywood environment.

Another director’s approach that surprised me was the flashbacks and interludes that Randy took when he returned to the lounge after experiencing the stapler war. The disorderly arrangement of the two timelines maximized the impact of the film at this time. A line is completely shaken pictures and fighting scenes from dozens of minutes ago. This is what we call the director’s skills. If you change to another director, what method will he use to perform? Fight first, violently, then slosh back to the locker room, and fall to the ground after a few words of greeting... Or simply unconscious during the fight? Undoubtedly, the two designs are not as impactful as the director presented. Okay, even if you think about it, or the original script of the screenwriter is arranged like this, can you change to another director, can you achieve such an impact?

In terms of the drama, I have to say that Robert D. Siegel really did a very beautiful job. It is really not easy to be an editor of the Onion.com, a nonsensical fake news. Give up ridicule and satire, tell a very true story. I have to mention a few of the details, there are praise and criticism, but there are two details that I strongly admire.

First, when Randy and Cassidy talked about their daughter, they suspected that their daughter was Lesbian. This line completely stated that the protagonist did not understand her daughter’s life and cared about her daughter. You don’t need to know what books your daughter likes. What kind of gifts do you like, but guessing that your daughter is gay only through the protagonist of a roommate, is enough, regardless of whether she is gay or not.

Second, Randy was playing the game console with his kid Adam in the trailer. The character in the game is his own Ayatollah match, but the irony is that this is a Nintendo 8-bit machine in the 1980s, and Adam naively asked Randy if he knew the mission. Call of Duty 4 (Call of Duty 4). After buying clothes, the conversation with Cassidy drinking and dancing in the bar strengthened Randy's memories of the glorious era of the 80s and couldn't accept reality.

I won’t talk about the other nice details. I believe everyone can see it. After all, this is not an obscure and structured film. But there are a few points that I am not satisfied with.

Although God's work is God's work, it does not mean that there are no shortcomings, but it is relatively few. The biggest shortcoming of this film is that the children's response is not enough to deal with. Why is the daughter so hysterical because the father missed the appointment? This only happened when the relationship between the two had just reconciled. I brought my feelings into myself and found that it was not appropriate for the characters to react so strongly. Because the previous part used heavy pen and ink to describe the memory of the father-daughter walking on the beach, I think her daughter’s strong reaction is not valid. I think the playwright should write another father-daughter meeting again. There will be some traumas that cannot be soothed in the conversation, so that it makes sense for the daughter to turn her face and deny the talent. The daughter's secondary line (or secondary plot) is a very important secondary line, because it is directly related to the motive of the protagonist in the third act and the relationship between the second act and the heroine Cassidy.

We say that the most basic thing to learn about film is not the artistry, thought, and philosophy of film. These are not important at the beginning. The important thing is how you understand a story, in addition to telling it clearly, you must tell it well. When the producer found you with this script, you finished reading the script and cried, saying that you have never seen such a good script in your entire life, and you decided to make it, but it was a second-rate film ( There are so many examples of such good books and bad guides). Darren Aronofsky’s this time is undoubtedly the play of 100% of the script, and added his own new interpretation, (a bit ashamed to say, this is also the first time I saw his work, the previous true love eternal (The Fountain), I haven’t watched either Requiem for a Dream or Pi....) They are very good at grasping rhythm and dramatic tension. After just 20 minutes, my heart has become entangled. The eyes are rosy. There is no direct flashback of the glorious moment in the film, only some details and dialogues are used to express it, but it still makes me feel like eating yellow lotus.

Finally, let's talk about the ending. The ending is the moment Randy sends out Ram Jam, an open ending. We don't know if Randy died of a heart attack in the ring, or won his honor, but I believe that when he stood in the ring and heard cheers, he had recovered his honor. To put it another way, according to the trend of the plot, he will die in the ring, let alone whether this kind of treatment is good (see what method is used), but we still have to admit that an American production company produced Movies must not have a miserable ending (Darren Aronofsky's status has not yet risen to the point where Francis Coppola, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese let the producers follow him, or simply pull himself to the point where hundreds of millions of people become a producer by himself) , And the genre of Little Miss Sunshine (Little Miss Sunshine) is that the former is a comedy (not a comedy of a genre movie, but a comedy in drama), and the latter is an out-and-out tragedy, so use An open ending is a compromise between the system and oneself. Of course, this is just an analysis of oneself. Personally, when I was watching the film, the way I thought about the ending was that Randy and Cassidy stepped onto the ring after bidding farewell, accepting everyone’s cheers, and then began to warm up, the bell rang, the camera upgraded, and then Randy and Ayatollah stepped forward to pinch each other. The neck fades out. This kind of processing is obviously not as clever as the director used. It seems that my skill is not deep enough.

When I watched it, I kept comparing the film with Raging Bull, because it was surprisingly similar in many ways, but to be fair, in many ways, Raging Bull is an artistic achievement. The performance must be higher than the Wrestling King, but in terms of personal emotions, since I have no boxing plot, I will vote for the Wrestling King.

All Wrestlers fighting in the wrestling ring, you will always be my heroes!

Off topic
Regarding the death of Chris Benoit, I have a lot of sadness that is hard to express. In 2006, I was reading the Beijing News (or the Evening News of the Legal System) in my school dormitory, and suddenly I read a piece of news: American professional wrestling (not wrestling) athlete Chris Bennuetti chose to hang himself at home after killing his child and wife. The cause of suicide is still under investigation (to the effect). At that time, my hunch was extremely bad. I thought this person would be a WWE player, someone I liked when I was a kid? Later, I checked the news on the Internet, and it turned out that the deceased was Chris Benoit, not a name that I tried to pronounce but couldn't match the number. Later, I wrote a mourning blog.
But this is not the Key, but the disappearance of Perry Saturn that made me really start to care about the real life state of the wrestlers. What was caught off guard was that the documentary about hormone injections was bigger, stronger, and faster (Bigger, Stronger, Faster). The brother of the director, wrestler Mad Dog Mike Bell, died by suicide in 2009. All three of them were WWE (WWF) players, and they were all glorious people in the 90s (Chris Benoit chose to commit suicide during the glorious period of his life).
What caused them to do this? Is it the loss after the glory? Or a life without a plan? Indulge yourself in the world of drugs under heavy pressure? I cannot and cannot give an answer.

Where is Perry Saturn? His fans want to know, is he dead or alive now?

Professional wrestling is a peculiar world full of interesting characters and weird storylines. Although 100% of the plots on wrestling shows are based on the script, the story of Perry Saturn is so realistic that many people cannot accept it.

Perry Saturn was originally named Perry Satullo. He was born in Cleveland in 1967. He spent most of his growing up in the abuse and detention center of his stepfather. Once, he accidentally saw an ad for a wrestling school in Pro Wrestling Illustrated, so he became a man. A professional wrestler. This school is run by the famous wrestler Killer Kowalski, and Perry Satullo became one of his best students in the future.

Satullo took a stage name for himself, Perry Saturn, and then he became an excellent wrestler. He and his partner John Kronus won three ECW tag-team championships. He also won two WCW tag-team championships and one WCW TV champion.

Saturn's career peak was achieved in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), he won the European Championship (European) and Hardcore Championship (Hardcore). He is most famous in WWF for being beaten with a concussion. (Of course, this is only a performance required by the script, not a real one.) This "concussion" turned him into a mop idiot (yes, he plays 'S character fell in love with the mop!), and at the same time he named the mop Moppy (Moppy). This must not be reminiscent of the volleyball Wilson in Tom Hanks's "Leaves of a Deserted Island". After that, as the plot required, his lover Mopbu was thrown into the wood chipper. Soon, he also left WWF. (Now renamed WWE.)

Saturn cruised to various independent wrestling organizations across the United States for a living in the next few years.

In 2003, he withdrew from people's sight. No one has seen him again. You must know that this is not the story of the wrestling arena. Perry Satullo is gone, his best friends can't reach him, and so is his ex-wife, Perry Satullo just disappeared out of thin air!

Some of his close friends actually thought he was dead, but no one could prove this conjecture. Many of his friends hopefully believe that he will attend the funeral of Killer Kowalski in June this year. After all, Saturn regards him as his father, but he did not show up. The whereabouts of Saturn was the biggest topic after the funeral. Many of his friends thought he was dead.

In the latest issue of Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer wrote that the last time anyone saw Saturn was in Mason City, Iowa, 18 months ago. The biggest rumor is that he is still alive, working for a door factory in a place called Albert Lea in Minnesota. Albert Lee is only a 30-minute drive from Mason City, but it must I have to go to that factory to verify, so this is still a mystery to this day.

Where is Perry Saturn? If you are really there, Perry Satullo, your friends and family want to know if you are well?

Perry Saturn was found! ! !
In November 2009, the Wrestling Observer newsletter reported that Satullo had been found alive and well. In June 2009, he married a woman named Lisa Marie Kuhlemeier and they reside together in Albert Lea, Minnesota with her two children. Satullo is claiming to be completely sober and working at Larson Manufacturing door company. [11]

Satullo was backstage visiting former colleagues at the WWE pay–per–view Bragging Rights on October 24, 2010. [12]

[edit] Potential return to The Ring
In December 2010 1Wrestling. com's Bill Apter interviewed Satullo about his disappearance. [13] Satullo revealed he had been using drugs, primarily methamphetamine. He is interested in a return to the ring depending if he is in good physical condition.

  • Necro Butcher: Are you cool with the staples?

    Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Staples?

Necro Butcher: Staple gun... Not so bad on the way in, except it's a little scary, you know - you got this metal thing pressed up against you. Gonna leave some marks, have to deal with a little blood loss.

  • Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Give this to your son, it's an authentic Randy "the Ram" action figure. Tell him not to lose it, it's a $300 collectors item.

    Cassidy: Really?

    Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: No.
