I live a life of my own choice

Just watched the movie "Remote for Life" (formerly known as Click), it is worth recommending.

A magical remote control, you can fast forward and skip the unpleasant things you don't want to experience: quarrels with your partner, traffic jams, hard work before promotion, etc. Yes, with this remote control, you can quickly skip the process and get the result you want.

The first half of the movie is full of comedy elements, because this magical remote control not only brings a lot of funny plots to the protagonist Newman, but also gives the audience a lot of surreal imagination. The reality is cruel and helpless. It would be great if I could get through it selectively!

In the second half, when the magic remote control is automatically executed according to Newman's preference, instead of being controlled by the owner, the plot becomes more and more tragic. Newman's career is thriving, but he missed a lot, the death of his father, the departure of his wife, and the wedding of his son. When he reached the end of his life, Newman found that even if he got the result quickly, it was still nothing in the end. Life is a process. If you ignore the process, life will be gone. It also reminded me of a sentence: "People go to the tomb day by day, why do they walk so fast?"

In addition to the feeling that life is a process. What I have been thinking about is this remote control. Every time Newman’s family and work conflict, his work always wins. Even if he doesn’t have that remote control, I believe it will still end in the same way. The remote control is just a tool for quick implementation. So I think that although I don't have this remote control in my hand, I have such a remote control in my heart. In order to achieve what I want, I keep pressing the selection button, and I am living a life of my own choice. So are there important things in life that I have overlooked? Need to reflect.

In addition, Newman finally regretted losing his family because of his job. In the frenzied work, he keeps saying that he is working for the family to have a better life, but it is just an excuse. The family always has to make way for his work. For a man who bears family responsibilities, it is important to strike a balance between work and family. You can neither simply give up work nor family. This is a life ability that requires continuous practice and learning.

There are many dialogues in the movie with profound meaning. I end with this sentence:

We are born, live and die. We are born, live and die. Original text
