First put forward two "long time":
1. I haven't watched a French movie for a long time, I remember the last one I watched was "Real Réalité";
2. I haven't seen such an interesting dark humor movie for a long time.
The plot of the film is very compact, without procrastination, link by link. Just like what happened to the protagonist Lu Jia, just one hour after regaining his freedom, he fell into the crisis of "crime" again. Yes, he wanted to be a "good guy", but he didn't have the chance.
The protagonist Lu Jia was once a thief. After spending five years in prison, he plans to reform himself and be a new man. If all goes well, then Lu Jia may really be able to live a peaceful life, and the story ends here. But the progress bar says it all - a bad bank robbery shatters Lu Jia's dream. During this inferior bank robbery, you can see that Lu Jia has been paying attention to the clock hanging on the wall. The robber Penon started rushing into the bank. With his extremely amateur robbery level, he spent 6 or 7 minutes in the bank until the police surrounded the bank. Lu Jia became a hostage by accident, but the police thought he was with the robbers! Yes, dark humor films often rely on "misunderstandings" to advance the plot. Such as "Crazy Stone", "Crazy Racing", "Two Smoking Guns", "Reservoir Dogs" and so on.
The former robber Lu Jia, who is determined to correct his evil and live an ordinary life, has once again become the target of the police. This is a major turning point in the story. But at this point the movie has only started 11 minutes. Lu Jia and Benon started their desperate journey, and Benon accidentally shot Lu Jia on the way. In "Pulp Fiction", Vincent accidentally shot Marvin in the car and shot Marvin in the head, and here It has the same effect.
Seeing this, I am very sympathetic to Lu Jia. The prodigal son can't change the money. After five years of prison life, he decided to change his mind and start a new life from an expert robber who robbed 14 banks. But the reality didn't give him a chance? How can this make sense? What's wrong with ending evil and returning to ordinary?
Lu Jia asked Benon to surrender and explain to the police that he was innocent. This is a reasonable request. But Benon didn't plan to do this. He expressed his difficulties - he was unemployed, he had a daughter to support, and he was desperate to rob a bank. Yeah, who would rob a bank if it wasn't for life?
Lu Jia forcibly took Penon into the police station. If all goes well, Penon will be arrested and Lu Jia will be acquitted, and the story ends here. But the progress bar revealed everything - Benon bit back, saying that Lu Jia was a robber. The two escaped from the police station, and the desperate Lu Jia told Benon to get out. Here we can see the helplessness of Lu Jia. He let Benon go, but he actually let the real robber go and made himself a substitute robber. But Penon turned back after leaving, because he found that Lu Jia was seriously injured (the one shot by him before). Penon was also righteous and took Lu Jia to see the doctor.
Penon takes Luka to the healing point. Here is a detail - when getting out of the car, Lu Jia asked Benon to cover the car. Lu Jia deserves to be a veteran, this is to avoid exposing his tracks.
So far in the plot, Lu Jia is the biggest victim. He was mistaken for a robber and was injured. In desperation, he also called to help Penon forge a passport (Benon planned to take his daughter into exile abroad). Until he met Penon's daughter, Lu Jia was completely influenced by the cuteness of Little Loli. He took the initiative to rescue Penon (Penon was extorted by a bar bully who forged a passport and was locked up), rushed into the bar, Lu Jia burst out the classic lines: "I am a hostage, I won't see the kidnapping in ten minutes. Man, I called your ass to bloom!"
This is another big inflection point in the story. Lu Jia's identity has begun to change - he can still be regarded as a hostage, but his actions have tended to help the Penon and his daughter.
Penon wrote a certificate explaining that Luja was innocent. Lu Jia persuaded Penon to surrender again, but this time was different from the previous one. The last time Lu Jia asked Penon to surrender, to solve the misunderstanding of the police about him; this time to persuade Penon to surrender, it is to save Penon and his daughter from a desperate life. Penon said that he could not go to jail, otherwise his daughter would have to go to the orphanage.
At this point in the story, Lu Jia can already leave Penon and his daughter, and there is no need to be together again. If all goes well, perhaps Lu Jia's wish to live an ordinary life can be realized. But the progress bar proves it all again - Penon's daughter speaks for the first time since her mother's death three years later, and she doesn't want Luja to leave. Lu Jia is destined to have an unfinished relationship with Penon's father and daughter.
After that, she experienced a series of incidents, including her daughter being lost and sent to an orphanage, Benon living on the street, Lu Jia going to the orphanage to visit the child, and Benon and Lu Jia working together to rescue the child and treat the child. After going through this, we can be sure - Lu Jia has completely invested in the Penon father and daughter. His hostage status has soured - or, in a sense, he's become "an accomplice" of Benon.
At the end of the film, the three pretended to be a family of three, took documents that did not belong to them, and planned to leave France. After passing through many difficulties, Lu Jia finally sent the Penon and his daughter to the border. After sending them away, if all goes well, Lu Jia may still be able to live the life he wants. At this time, the progress bar was almost unstoppable. It is estimated that Lu Jia will finally leave the Penon and his daughter. But! In the end, there was another big click, and they actually………………
Maybe they lived happily ever after.
The plot is compact, and there is no pissing point. The plot is not deliberately funny but full of laughs. Lu Jia experienced a series of changes from "being released from prison → encountering Penon robbing a bank, being mistaken for an accomplice → being influenced by Penon's daughter → helping Penon's father and daughter", from the original pure hostage to a certain sense. "accomplice". Perhaps Stockholm Syndrome can be used to explain Luja's transformation. In the end, although he failed to live the life he envisioned, through his past experience, plus a little kindness and compassion, he still managed to make a new face, which can be said to be the same destination.
