Out of focus happy back

Today, I watched Jiao Xiongping's "French New Wave". When talking about the left bank's Alain Resnais and Varda, they were influenced by Brecht's "alienation" theory, and they did not encourage the identification of the characters. Character backgrounds and personalities provide very little information. Characters often have no names, no clear occupations, no memory or social relationships, and even no depth of thought or heart.

"No thought, depth of heart" - reminded me of this "Happiness," which was a video I found in a cubicle in the BU library a few months ago when I watched it. I vaguely remember the indistinct character and vague face of the protagonist in the film, but after watching it, I only felt that I saw a flat sketch.
Nearly half a year has passed, and when I saw this sentence, I realized that maybe Varda deliberately typed the characters instead of details, so there was no traditional five minutes to highlight the protagonist (instead, the protagonist was mixed into the background, mixed in life), and there is no major psychological struggle. The male protagonist is as innocent as a child. He tells his wife that I love you and I love her too. He said the same thing to his lover.

The name of the movie is happiness, a simple happiness that no one can grasp. Actually, this movie is not my tune. Because of its flatness, because it shields the psychology of characters. I have been thinking about the details of the lawyer smelling fingers in "The Lemon Tree", such a character is considered flesh and blood, and only such a character has the tragedy of the soul.

But perhaps the beauty of this film lies in its ambiguity, uncertainty, and more generally, universality. Just like the cover of a movie, the out-of-focus family of four, their faces are not important, because they themselves are vaguely symbolized, this deliberate ambiguity is actually a universal expression .

It just so happened that today a teacher was talking about Shakespeare and said that everyone is both watching and acting. In fact, we are all walking in a small stream. When we are in our teens, we want to fall in love, and when we are in our thirties, we want to start a business. At forty and learning to enjoy life, everyone is repeating the scene. (I am holding a small reunion below, thankfully this sentence is not lost)

Again, this movie is a play of life. How beautiful is the scene of two couples making love in the wild, after a moment of lust is the death of my wife, I prefer to believe that she committed suicide, her soul is drifting in the water waves, no more cameras are needed to tell her about love. Persistence or despair...

there is loss and gain, but there is no joy or sadness.
The so-called ideological and psychological depths are hidden, because we all live so unconsciously, men and women live together, and continue to live, and this is what we all need - happiness -

François Chevalier: I like that about you. And it's the same for me. I can't say I'm different since I met you. On the contrary, I'm even more myself.

  • François Chevalier: You know, I met my wife when I was in the service. It was love at first sight. We married when I got out. Had I met you first, I'd live with you.
