From the "Fertile Crescent" west to Asia Minor, north and the Caucasus Mountains, is a land of milk and honey. Turkey, which is dedicated to joining the European family, is just like its geographical location and cultural background. The wood industry is mixed with all blood. Little Joseph lives in a mountain forest, and the inefficiency of sowing forces the mountain people to raise bees to supplement their livelihoods. The change of the climate, the continuous deforestation, and the growth of the population made it more and more difficult for bees to find. Joseph's father had to go deep into the woods, climb the dangerous high branches, and find a suitable nesting place. Then, in mid-air, he heard the sound of the branches tied with ropes breaking...
The film is not a history of suffering, but a history of a child's spiritual growth. Its pilots all focus on six-year-old Joseph. He couldn't understand the hardships and deaths that happened around him. What it can understand is the stalwart image of his father. Joseph shared secrets with his father, shared the joy of the game, and of course shared the sweet honey. The closed mountainous area did not give birth to any magical nature, and Joseph's innocence was actually not far from the children in the city. The real difference may be that, in that green, white place, it stays fresh longer, like honey just taken from the nest.
Yu Cerf also longs for the teacher's appreciation. He also suffers from stuttering when reading texts in front of everyone. He also bullies his tablemate for not doing his homework. He also resists the big glass of milk placed in front of him. Will turn on the lights and attract attention when his mother ignores him... But at a certain moment, maybe when his father falls, maybe when he is separated from his mother at the market, Joseph grows up, he realizes that something Change, it has nothing to do with puberty, it's more mysterious and deeper. He drank the milk prepared for him, and he even got his coveted red medal (though he still stuttered). At the end of the film, Joseph goes into the depths of the forest. He lies in this place of life and death, surrounded by darkness, breathing calmly and falling asleep. Perhaps decades ago, his father did the same, completing the Son of Nature's bar mitzvah.
